Looked around on here and google and there is very little information on this. How I do get the cable end where the bushing needs to be replaced. This is a 2006 tacoma the shift cable is covered up by the shifter box. What part should I remove to access?

I haven't taken one apart yet (mine is a manual) but I'm assuming you would just need to remove the shift knob and top cover off the shifter to access the cable end.

This kinda shows how its all put together.

If your needing the black bushing for them at the shifter knob it’s available thru the aftermarket

Got it all apart. Replaced the bushing and it doesn't seem to fix my issue. Shift cable is stuck completely doesn't move at all. Went underneath sprayed neutral safety switch and lower shift linkage with PB Blaster to no avail. It's getting to the point the shift cable is bending and I definitely don't want to break it.

Are you saying the neutral safety switch lever does not move?

That may be the case, yes. It was very corroded and I sprayed it over and over. I will check again in a bit. Should I consider replacing the neutral safety switch ?

It's pretty common for the Transmission Range Switch to get seized up especially in areas that corrosion from salt is an issue.

Unhook the cable from the transmission side and see if you can move the lever on the transmission just be sure your wheel are chocked so it can't roll.

So if the switch is stuck it will have to replaced. I’d remove the cable from it and soak it good. If you can’t get it move then replace it.
