Shift delay in “manual” auto trans

    Correct, it will stay displayed on the gear limit you set. It doesn’t show what gear you are currently in, only what you set the gear upper limit you have chosen.

    it has nothing to do with saftey. all the "S" modes do is limit how high a gear it will shift into (s4 will not shift into 5 or 6). other than that it still works like its in drive up/down shifting on its own. also the torque converter is what prevents the engine from stalling. think of it like this, if you are in drive, stopped, with your foot on the brake it doesnt matter what gear ratio you are in its not like the torque converter will have to allow for more slippage.

    First I thought I had a sport shifter!

    Alas, no...

    But now I have a safety feature!

    Wait. No.....

    It's a gear limiter....just like the manual says it is.

    Darn.
