You could go to a junk yard, or just look on eBay for a nice one.

    ^^ Nice!

People say that a ball shifter is more comfortable.

My dad owned "the first FJ Cruiser in the DFW area" he has since sold it, but once while I was driving it and waiting on him to come out of a store I unscrewed the top of the shifter knob to find it was a simple thread. It occurred to me then that a 2 or 10 ball would make an awesome shifter knob for his blue FJ... I'd imagine the Tacoma's shifters are the same simple thread (although I haven't messed with mine).

Why not look for a billiards ball that's roughly the same color as your vehicle and have it drilled and tapped for the appropriate thread/depth?

I got mine from auto zone, it is just solid aluminum and works and feels great. Just find one that fits your hand.

I wanna put a corvette (C6) shifter on mine just like the one we have on our corvette. The only problem is - buying one is expensive (corvette tax) and their shifters are keyed (it's weird).

One of those mods that are on the backburner for when I have time and I'm bored.
