    Here is another post.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/after-market-mt-shift-knobs.471467/page-15#post-17096156

There is a taper at the bottom choking the threads before the shaft bottoms out. Can't do that with a metal knob or threaded insert (which I am assuming the TRD cue ball has). The other knobs that lined up surely had plastic threads with tapered bottom.

I will also assume the TRD cue ball has brass threads, because brass is extremely resistant to galling (no need for anti-seize lube).

Interesting write-up about the tapering and makes sense. Thanks for linking that!

Yep, have a bunch of those.

They are configured for my V1 AT knobs though, haven't seen another common usage to whip up another design yet.

Utilizes two 6-32 SHCS clearance holes for mounting.

This 2nd pic shows what would be the top in the mounted position.

Don’t ever use thread lock on your knob! It was a total b!tch to get off.

Vinyl is probably easier, but I painted mine since I was messing with the boot anyway. Either way, it is worth it to kill the chrome.

Currently sold out, but more will be made soon.
Excellent, we got it on first take!

Yeah I had to learn that tapered feature the hard way. Seems my truck and just a few others are the only ones that didn't need clearance in that area. I will get that picture into the OP.
