Just glanced at my old knob and it looks different as in around 30% of the circumference is blank. Doesn't really matter though.

Yup, that is because on the stock knob the threads and internal features are about 3mm eccentric to the knob centerline. I used to make my knobs like that, but changed the design to everything on the same centerline about a year ago.

The offset internals wouldn't actually work for this part. Well it would, but it looks wrong.

Not that there is any stress on the part I think and not that it matters yours is a bit stronger - if materials are equal.

@7r41lbr34k3r interested in the next batch. Switched out the knob today and the boot ring just rattles around.

I will have more by mid to late next week. I am not opposed to pre-selling them if anyone wants to lock in. Just PM me paypal address and I will invoice you. If paying through Venmo, I will give my info through PM as well.

@woodsman117 , I will make another 2nd Gen if you are still interested.

There are ways around this but this boot retainer is by far the most elegant purchased solution. Highly recommended.

Temporarily - do a search for grommet. There is size that fits near perfectly. Even looks ok. But it is a klugey thing.

Thanks for the info. Picked up a 3/4” rubber grommet at Home Depot, trimmed the bottom “fin” and slid it into the ring. Def not a permanent fix, but a least it will keep it from rattling around.

I agree this is the best solution out there! @7r41lbr34k3r i don’t know my PayPal address, once I get it I’ll DM you. Edit: got it. DM incoming.
