Mine does this every time. I just thought it was normal. Which is what the dealer will likely tell me. I find when I pull emergency break before putting it in park then the truck is fine. If not it almost seems a bit harder to shift out of park when I drive it next.

My truck does this as well. But not as bad. Only happens about 50% of the time and it takes half of the time of the truck in the video to set into park. Seemed weird when I first got the truck but I kind of accepted it as part of the truck at this point.

Mine does it sometimes. My second gen did it, from new, for 7 years.

Mine does it every time. I use the parking brake every time. Seems not right but parking brake prevents the click. Maybe Toyota will figure out something but I'm not holding my breath.

Revitalizing an old thread. Anyone else have this clicking noise? I just noticed it in my truck today, but it's probably been there a while.

Yeah It’s happening to mine as well, Just started recently but besides that it seems to be shifting fine. Sounds like this noise isn’t really anything to be worried about. At least I haven’t heard of anyone’s trannys going out ever since the click begins. As annoying as it is I guess we’re just gonna have to live with it haha.

My driveway is at an angle and if I park and just throw it in P, the truck will roll back and do this. I've always thought this means the weight of the truck is resting on the transmission. For years now I've been pulling the parking brake before putting it in P. Let the brakes hold the truck, not the transmission.

I will say even when mine does this it's not so pronounced as yours.

Edit: Just realized this is an old thread. Oops.

Mine will even do it with the emergency brake on every once in a while not all the time. No matter where it’s parked i’ll hear a click sometimes even enough to shake the whole truck
