For a little while now, i usually get a audible "clicking" sound coming from my auto shifter lever whenever i apply or release my brake pedal or sometimes just one or the other. I know there's a electrical piece that has a interlock in there. I'm planning on replacing my bushings soon just wondering if there is a way to lubricate that piece or is the noise a sign its going bad? Anyone have any issues with the interlock going out on there tacoma? My assumption was the piece only activated when shifting outta Park, not every single time you apply or release your brake pedal.

Sounds like your interlock. When you’re in park and lightly tap the brake pedal to engage the brake lights, do you hear the solenoid?

I usually hear/feel it (if I place my hand on the shifter) in normal driving when I apply my brake to stop and or let off my brake to go. It’s a definite click with a very slight vibration if I’m holding the shifter. Does the interlock engage EVERY time you hit your brake?

I’m not sure actually. It’s there so you can’t shift into drive without your foot on the brake.

Yea that makes sense. I just thought it only clicked when shifting from P to another gear. If it’s everytime you touch the brake it must get quite the workout.
