After depressing the brake pedal several times, the shifter will not engage out of park. Anybody had this problem on 05 Tacoma, 4x4

Look in the manual. There is a page in there that talks about that litte tab next to the shifter. Use a screwdriver to pry it up(I think), and you can get it out of park.

Check your brake light fuse. If it's blown, it won't shift out of park. Also, any aftermarket wiring? Campershell brake light? Trailer harness? If the fuse is blown check the aftermarket add ons first.

Fuse blew on me a month ago WHILE in a parking lot.

AS others have said, pop off the little plastic square to the left of the shifter and press the button while shifting.
