I'm replacing the shifter plate seal, the bushing and the boot on my 2002 xtra cab 2wd manual transmission. I've disassembled it all and the plastic part of the plate seal has disintegrated (as I've seen on other threads). My question is will it damage my transmission if some of those plastic granules drop down into the hole where the shifter used to be?

    Thanks

I’ll go ahead and say, I’m not exactly sure what you’re talking about?
Do you have a Shop-Vac? Could you suck the piece up while trying to remove the plastic seal?
As for hurting anything? I don’t know.
