I’m replacing the gasket between the shifter plate and the transmission. Does anyone know the torque spec for the four bolts? I did search torque specs in the first gen forum. Also, does the upper, black, part of the shift lever separate from the lower, silver, section? I’m replacing the boot and can’t figure out how to slide if over the larger diameter black section to get it to the silver portion of the shaft.C789280B-A5B7-41AD-8C4D-07670AC1CC71.jpg

Hand tight on the 4 bolts. Its gonna take some force to pull the boot over. Its rubber, it shouldnt rip. If it does, remember the outer leather cover will hide it. Mine was ripped I presume to being dried out so it doesnt make a big issue if it does rip.

Use a little dish soap on the shifter boot and it will slide right on.
Torque on the shift level retainer bolts is 13 ft.lbs / 18 N.m
