I had same thing happen to me. Came out to be a broken clutch. Cracked where it holds the springs. Could be that as a option

So a broken clutch affected the shifter? Was the shifter moving for you? And was your clutch pedal still functioning normally?

Gotcha ok I'll look into changing those after I drain and fill the transmission fluid.

    Still thinking about it.
Earlier in your thread somebody asked if the problem was the same with engine running or not. Since you said you can't select any gears or move the shifter in a normal pattern, that's what makes me think it's internal to the transmission. I could sure be wrong about that, but really you should be able to pretty much work the shifter, clutch in or out, engine on or off.

I think you might be right also. Because the clutch feels fine and the cylinders aren’t spilling oil. I refilled the clutch reservoir and it’s still at the same level it was when I filled it.

A family friend whose worked on my truck before made a surprise visit tonight.. we might get together on Monday and start pulling apart at least the transmission housing to see what’s going on.

The truck is in neutral and you can't shift into any gears with the engine off or on? With it running clutch in there's no grinding noise when you try to shift? It just wont shift into any gear correct?

Does not shift into any gears at any point whatsoever, hot or cold, on or off.. it’s as if something’s stuck in the shifter area and won’t let it budge certain directions. Because it’s not completely stuck.. still moves right in the neutral position but does not move left in the neutral position. No grinding noises when I push the clutch or attempt to shift.

Sounds like the shift rods are not aligned right. If there's wear on the end of the shifter or in the spots the shifter pushes the rods back and forth. It can jump out of one leaving it not in a gear but not completely out of a gear. Remove the shifter housing and make sure they're all aligned. Not just the shifter but the hole top shifter housing.
Do you have the repair manual for the transmission?

    Wait...
You have to pull the extension housing off to see the shift rods. IIRC

Is your transmission mount thrashed? If it is and you were aggressive Offroad I could see the shifter essentially slamming the transmission tunnel of your trucks floor and busting the shifter housing. Check it like you would your shifter bushing (even though you know the bushing is good).

I had a free 80’s volvo years ago that wasn’t worth new engine and transmission mounts. If I dropped the clutch to have a little fun, the torque would slam the shifter into the trans tunnel. Bet that could break the little plate that mounts the shifter to the transmission. Had that mount break in a 90’s Chevy 1500 manual and the shifter just popped out and didn’t do anything, rather than be stuck like yours, but I bet that could have happened too.

yea unfortunately you can’t get to all of the shift rods or transmission internals from inside the cab, it has to be from the undercarriage in the housing

Yea I’m not too sure. When I was looking at the shifter bushing from inside the cab, the parts I could see were not broken. Shifter itself was fine, still had the ball at the end of it and the rubber boot/cover that goes on top of the ball. Not too familiar with transmission tunnels though so if something there was broken, I might’ve missed it.

I’ll keep looking at it starting Monday and see what we can find out

If you can't chose any gear (at least that's what I gather) You may have broken the roll pin in the shifter rod at the shift lever. If there was a broken pin inside you probably would have two choices of gear changes only. Does the stick sort of flop around? The plastic bushing missing will give you a lot of play but generally you still can find a gear.

Possibly the 4wd is bound-up tight. That can really lock up the whole driveline.

I'll have to look into everything mentioned.. Thanks everyone for being super knowledgeable.

Anyway, can someone let me know if I got the right idea (below)? Believe it or not, I couldn't find this information in my 300+ page manual.
