    just a quick question

when i shift my 05 trd sport dclb into drive it seems to lurch a bit

i plan on doing a drain and fill of the tranny fluid - but just wanted to know if this is a sign of anything.

it does have 155k on on it (and its new to me of course)

    thx

Check U joints first. You'd likely hear a clunk but not all of the time. Just shake the shaft and see if there's play. I would shove some grease in there and see if that remedies the issue.

I don't think you have a problem. Compared to other vehicles I've owned my Tacoma has very little lag time between shifting from park or neutral into either Drive or Reverse. As soon as the lever is in D, or Rit is ready to go. With others there is a slight delay between shifting and the vehicle being ready to move. I think you just need to get used to the way your new truck behaves.

Is the lurching just after you first start the truck and shift in to D?
If so, does it “lurch” more than once in quick succession?

    Or

Does it “lurch” anytime it’s in gear with A/C on.
Example: At a stop sign or light, and the A/C is on.
Typically people describe it as some one has tapped you in the rear of the truck.

What you described in the lurch part with the A/C on is what is happening to my truck. I checked the A/C yesterday at a place that services A/C's and they said it seems plenty cold and doesn't need a recharge. I am experiencing this slight push at a stop with the A/C on. I have a 2008 Tacoma Sport 4x4 double cab with 136 K on it. You have a solution TnShooter??
