I believe if you keep it under 25mph it’s fine to switch, I do mine at 20mph or less and never had a problem.

As long as it’s not 4 Low and you stay under I think it’s 45.

That is how you are supposed to do it... (as long as you do shift into 4wd High while driving UNDER 60MPH) - or you'll get beeps and lights on the dash telling you as much...

You'll have to stopped to shift into 4WD LOW

(It is all in the manual!)

Yes, moving while shifting into or out of 4wd is normal. Just make sure to not press the throttle while doing so, only coast.

you can shift between 2hi and 4hi under 62mph. Just make sure you're going straight.

I engage 4WD Hi on straight aways in normal driving under 50 mph--this helps move the parts that engage the 4WD system.

I've done it in the rain as well...and will engage it in the snow (possibly this weekend!)

I go to 4 Hi while driving at speed as needed, no worries, works great. Winter conditions change quickly, so when needed, I use on the fly…. 50 mph give or take, no problem.

Going sideways at 100mph in 4wd on a snow covered frozen lake is bliss… especially when your passenger side window is missing and it’s 10F. But do what you feel, and keep both feet on the wheel.

OP, yes it’s fine to shift between 2hi and 4hi at whatever speed you like, albeit I’ve heard the nanny will limit the speed at which you can shift. It shifts best if you are going straight at a constant speed. I avoid shifting if the wheels are spinning, I’m turning, or I’m accelerating or decelerating greatly. If you make a mistake the truck will teach you. It’s good at protecting itself from the driver.

it’s in the snow/ice where you need to react fast sometimes even just reversing. Pretty sure it’s Ford that can’t switch on the fly, could be wrong. Hope to get some good snow test’r out :mudding:

seriously, when you need 4wd slowing down or stopping to switch isnt always an option. I rented an F150 once and it sputtered and klunked if you tried without being at a full stop :help:

no just in reverse and spun the tires so I stopped and switched to 4 but can’t always stop if I’m somewhere and need traction fast so just want to switch in the fly if needed
