So I've got a 2017 Double Cab 4 Cyl Auto with 600 miles that is not shifting smooth. I had the dealer check the trans fluid 200 miles ago, and they found that it was a Qt. low and added. I got the truck back and still feels like it is slamming into gear as it shifts through the gears.

Anyways have any ideas on what is going on?

I suggest you check the fluid level yourself to see if the dealer was being straight with you.

I trust the dealership at this point. Should I not? Its a large dealership, and I can't imagine a service department would make it very long if they gained a reputation for being dishonest.

Is this symptom common for low transmission fluid?

As a wise man once said, "trust, but verify."

Yes, that is a symptom of low fluid. Mine was .75 qt low (checked myself and corrected myself) and I never had any symptoms. Seems that it has to be lower than that before symptoms appear. It is not unheard of around these parts where a poster had the dealer check it, was told "it's fine" or even "it was low, but we fixed it", only to find out later the dealer flat out lied and never actually checked it.

If you check it yourself, you can have piece of mind knowing it really is correct or ammo to take it back to the dealer and call them out if you find it's low. It's unfortunate we have to do this, but it is what it is.

Ok, need to buy a torque wrench. What else? Anything special if I need to add? Special funnel?
