I've heard tons of different stories as to what the best RPM's to shift is at for the best gas mileage but can anyone clarify what is best for 6speed 4.0 liters?

No hard data to back it up, but I'd agree with the previous posters. Somewhere between 2-2.5k I'm usually shifting on the 2.5K side.

I can definitely do that. I've been shifting at 3500 but it's no problem for me to go down to 2-2500 with alll the power we have!

I have an '04 so mine is a 3.4L. I used to shift at 3k I started shifting at 2k and I get an extra 2 mpg average. I try and keep the rpm's above 1300.

I just bought an 09' 2.7 in Aug. it now has 6500 on it and I have found that evryone one that is sayin around 2000 rpms is right up the same alley as what I would say!! I took my truck huntin this year in very hilly/steep terrain and found that off road it was o.k. but on the highway @45 -55mph the truck is doggin it up some of those long hills.. it doesnt have the power i thought it would, In situations like that I wish I had the 6 speed, but then thats not helpin the gas milage!!!!
