So I went and hoped into my truck and went to shift from park and the shifter moved like normal, but I could feel the truck never leave park. The dash showed drive, the shifter was in drive. But I wasn’t driving anywhere.

Checked all my fuses, no issues. So I pulled the center console off. The actual driving rod for the shifting solenoid had come off the shifter. Put it back on and everything works as it should. But the rod is very lose and comes off the shifter easy still. I am assuming there is supposed to be a bolt or something to keep it from coming off. Can anyone verify that?

Looks like you have the cable, which used a clip to hold it onto the shifter assembly. It probably fell into the bottom area of the console. You may be able to fish it out with a magnet. Or remove the console...

If you don't have the cable, but do have the rod there should be a retaining nut.

I’ll go ahead and say, I have absolutely no idea.
First thing to do is look for the Clip as Jimmy said above.
I’ve never had my console out, hope I never do.

On first glance., It looks like the shaft that the cable slides onto, is notched.
As if there may be a rubber bushing or grommet that was/or is inside the cable end.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it wouldn’t hurt to see if you have a rubber bushing missing or bad?

I don’t see any signs of a clip, or a hole for a clip to go into. I’ll keep digging and see what I can find. I’m almost leaning more towards the bushing. I can see some little bits of old broken down rubber down there. Anyone with an 05 want to pop open the center console and look?
