I've been having this weird thing where when I'm driving really slow like in a neighborhood or in a parking lot and not fully stopped but I'm kind of crawling, I step on the gas and it revs up to 2300 rpm's and then it like kicks into gear.

Hard to explain, i know. it has been kind of random.

it can do that. Mine still will have a "hiccup" after 4 years like that. Doesn't like slowing down to a near stop and then going right to the gas. you can prevent it by either keeping it in the higher rpm range with ect or downshifting using the s mode. Not really a solution, but it seems to be the only area it has issues, and it doesn't always happen

Could be. Funny thing is, there is Cabela's I go to, and there is a spot when exiting the parking lot I can make it happen every time.

Try it in S3...see if it's the torque converter.

My buddies 2019 trd or does the same once in awhile especially letting off the gas while rounding a slow corner. He's been living with it, otherwise the truck runs fine. He does notice it more after doing a lift, and putting on 33'' tires.

Yep it wants up up shift too soon. Put into s3. I do it often and then manually up shift. Greatly improved how it drives and moves along very well.

Do a proper oil change on it. My guess is you got a drain and refill on the 10k service.
My truck acted the same way, did a fresh oil change and she has been pretty happy ever since.

Especially when I’m hesitant on the throttle.... like it thinks it knows what I’m gonna do and then i don’t....I confuse it.... it confuses me.... we get along

I've had that as well (in a very similar driving scenario like you described), although it'll rev to about 1800rpm before it seems to engage.

Aside from that, at times the shifting is seamless and other times it feels like it "pauses" between gears (similar to what a manual transmission feels like)

I've had a 2013 and a 2016 and now my 2019. My 2019 does exactly what you describe. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Interesting.... is it at operating temperature when it happens? More so when first starting out? Or just completely random ?

    Mostly dust and dirt.
The Tacoma auto transmission is geared weird.
I think they did it just to wave their dick in the face of their customers.
