OP I applaud you for what you have done I understand this is brand new to the market but where are the reveiws. I would like to read what real people say not just test subjects.
My trans at this moment is smooth as silk and can only tell when it chages gears by listening to the rpms of the engine. It does change gears alot and will change to higher gears at the earlliest opportunity which I don't like. But consider I have drove nothing but manuals all my life except for a 03 Tundra which that auto was fine. I'm still trying to get used to it.

I'm sure the reviews will come. This product is brand new. First time it's being offered I think. Hopefully the OP is busy at the post office today.

Being i live in Austin and have to drive many hours in any direction to get to some better spots for camping and wheeling, i spend a good part of each trip on the highways. I experience a larger number of shifts and feel like its not in the right gear at highway speeds mostly when there are hills or elevation changes. I like the first 3 gears in any mode, but the remainder are just not great for my type of driving. I ordered one last night and will definitely be able to provide a review once I have it and have tested it out on some roads i travel often.

Will this let me lock the transmission in sixth gear when on the highway? So I can drive on the highway and keep the truck in sixth gear?

    If not, this isn't helpful

Right, but I am not asking if this specific product can do that...I am asking that since it is possible to set the shift points in the S mode...is it possible to set S mode to only shift when you tell it to shift. basically making it a manual. Obviously this product does not do that right now, but is it something that is possible to be programmed. I know it is possible, I however do not know how involved it would be. If it is a simple "black box" like this mod is, I am hoping someone with an EE background instead of an ME background like I have could figure it out....

Without breaking into the TCM you wouldn't be able to accomplish that. This product is fairly simple in that they did not alter any of the existing firmware. All they did is figure out what the shifter circuit board is sending to the TCM and make their little box do that when they want. To make a fundamental change to S mode that effectively locks the transmission in that gear would require altering firmware. That is not what this product does or intends to do.

I have a CompE degree and work in an EE environment.

Thanks....this is what I was looking for. So, much more involved than what this product is capable of. Bummer

I wish I had done my original plan to order a manual but I sold my 4runner so fast I did not have a ride. My dealer found a truck that I wanted except it was a auto. I did test drive a auto for about a mile and seemed ok but now nope. I'm honestly thinking about trading next year and order a manual if they offer it. But mine does run smooth I just don't know. It's a shame that Toyota will not do much about this problem. Anything now is just a Band-Aid.

    Dang that's quick!

I think too many are quick to criticize without appreciating that @dcz108 has fixed a major issue without permanently altering the truck.

Agreed. And if this controller works as advertised it'll be a game changer for the truck.

Many orders have now been fulfilled and are on their way! We are performing 100% functional testing of every unit (in a tacoma) to ensure quality.

We have now sold-out our initial inventory and are doing our best to keep up with the unexpected high demand. We have been manufacturing more but assembly and testing is still a manual process and takes time. We will do our best to ship products within 5-7 days of order.

How many initial pieces of inventory did you have? I am order 1019 and am wondering if my order is one of those that shipped

Is there maybe going to be a second generation version they can be hidden under the seat, Center console or dash by changing the cable length. I'm still waiting for my truck to arrive from the dealer and would have ordered one if you could be hidden

My issue with the transmission wasn't with the shifting, but rather the delay in shifting, or it's responsiveness. I'd press the pedal, then it'd pause, shift, then shift again to the appropriate gear. Does this device address the responsiveness of the shifting?

I'm glad something has come out giving auto tacoma owners another option to the TSB's toyota's putting out.
