SSP generally holds lower gear than the truck’s computer would select otherwise. What you want is something completely beyond the scope of this product.

    a bunch of mods

No need to wait until it shifts down from 4-2 until you take off. It is instantaneously reading the vehicles' speed, and will make that initial downshift appropriately. If you are less than 5 mph, it will shift down to 2, otherwise it will stop at S3 and go up from there.

Regarding the shift in.. here is what I've noticed with my own driving habits. Not sure if it could explain what you're seeing as well. When shifting quickly from park or reverse into S, I'm occasionally still pulling slightly back on the shifter during the slide into S. This little bit of back pressure (or momentum) is enough to pull the lever just enough to trip the S- shift switch, and causes the device to immediately cancel, thinking you commanded a shift. Ideally, when making the shift into S, you want to use a sideways motion without continuing to pull back.

Hey, Patch I'm in ABQ at the same elevation and it shifts normally, but I have less weight and stock tire size. I still have V1 though.

That would easily explain what I probably did. I just try to slow down now as I think I was doing just that since I was moving the shift lever pretty quick. I didn't think much of it, but that sounds like it.

Since I've been slowing my speed down, it's not happened again.

I realized what I did. I tend to rest my hand on the shift lever and tonight I noticed that I bumped it slightly when I hit a pothole as I could hear the three beeps from the SSP as I was pulling to a stop sign. So, it was all me.

Order #1830. Cannot wait. With LT285/70r17s driving around Denver and frequenting the high country this truck has been a drag. Especially trips with 4 dudes, our stuff, and mountain bikes all heading to Moab.

Upshift to 6th is 67-68mph but will stay there down to around 61mph just on observation.

Installed shiftsense pro 2 days ago and have it set at 3... love it! Cleans up all the gear hunting and much more fun to drive. 265/70 KO2s. Wish I did it a while ago.

    Update:
I have been making sure I do not drop my hand onto the shift lever, but I have noticed twice that my SSP has tripped off while sitting at a stop light/sign. The first time, I could hear the three beeps as the radio was between songs and the second it just did not shift as I was pulling away.

Any ideas what I can do to reduce the sensitivity of the switch or however you want to put that? I am not touching it, but I am guessing the vibration from the engine idle is doing enough movement to cause the SSP to think that I have shifted manually.

Yep. I drove over 800 miles to San Diego, and it shifted normally. In NM and AZ I set cruise control at 80, and 75 in California. Seemed like a normal transmission.

It's working on mine so far, but we are working to see if that is causing some random cancellations.

@Taco16LB Thanks for the additional info. I rarely tow with my Taco, but when I do, the Scangauge is very useful to monitor Trans Temp. You can easily modify your driving to keep the temps normal. If I go with this Shift Sense I will power it off when I need to tow.
