For someone that drives up and down a mountain everyday for work, this thing does wonders. Going on 9 months of daily use and still loving it.

Order 1976 received last week and installed that night. It took about six minutes to install-seriously. I just watched the video 2x and did it. Pretty damned easy. I stuck the module under my Qi charger. The beeps are almost imperceptible and only noticeable to me. My wife had no clue.

My next thought is for the OP, The DZ guy. Jeez, this guy should be engineering mobile solar-powered desalination plants for areas without fresh water or something that will benefit humankind not reengineering shift programs for a multi-billion dollar company like Toyota that FAILED when they let this powertrain combo go into production. Couldn't someone speak out in production and just say "stop-it drives like shit!" But I am glad you did. And am glad this is made in America. Good job to you sir.

Anyways, with SS2 in operation in my truck it is much more drivable. It holds a gear much longer to ensure when it does upshift that it is in the torque making power band. Yes, I would like it to shift a little sooner into 5th gear but I do understand that there is no power in 5 th gear at 1200 rpms - so it holds 4th longer to ensure there is available torque at the start of the new gear.

I realize I am rehashing what has already been written, but people don't like rereading through 100+ pages of forum posts. I have my SS2 set in mode one as I do a lot of city driving. I will tow or drive lots of highway I will use mode 2.

I mentioned my wife not noticing the beeps. Well, she did notice it had a new personality when driving it. She asked if they (dealership) finally fixed the truck with the tsb flash. She was impressed with the difference.

I am still going forward with my Lemon Law case with this truck but the attorney suggested I drive the damned thing since I still need to make the payments. At least with the SS2 it is at least tolerable now. So a hearty thank you to @dcz108 - well done (and he is a Browns fan).

...cont. I also think it is pretty cool that I can lift off the throttle a hair and it will upshift (if it is in the right shift range) just like in a real car.

And the feel of the gas pedal is improved. It no longer feels like you are pressing on a dead piece of wood. Whereas I used to press the accelerator and get nothing, then press, and press and nothing, then -bam- you get an almost full-throttle response with multiple gear downshifts -crazy.

Again, I find it amazing that Toyota let this thing go into production with these driving dynamics.

I'd love to give it a go, but between the cost of the Sprint Booster + SSP we are in striking distance of the OV Tune that is supposed to address all these problems and more, non ?

SSP has made the truck more than tolerable and because of it and the potential I sense, I am considering the Tune as an answer to a lot of what disturbs me.

PMO that I have to spend this kind of money over and above the purchase price just to make things right though...

    Agreed on all counts.

I bought a used sprint booster, so it wasn’t as expensive.

Just wanted to chime in for all those reading through and on the fence of buying the Shift Sense Pro module...

After reading through a good portion of this thread I was easily convinced to give this a try, however I kept my expectations down as low as possible because it all seemed to good to be true...

My order showed up last Saturday (2/17) morning. It took me longer to read all the instructions than it did to install. After the install (~ 5 mins maybe) and verifying function as described in the instructions (which are very well written by the way) I took her for a spin.

Wow, just wow! It actually drives like you would expect it too! I switched mine down to Mode 1, as most of my driving is around town. Mine came defaulted to Mode 3, but it was very easy to switch to 1, again following the well written instructions. I am still getting used to it, but that is a good thing. No longer do I have to add +60% pedal to accel from 45mph to 47mph :/ (seriously Toyota, how is that ok?)

I am truly impressed with this device; it was worth every penny!

I am curious how gas mileage will turn out. I have only had the truck a couple months, and have only filled her twice (she came with a full tank). I assume the first tank had 87 octane, I got about 18.2mpg. Next fill up with 89 (better off idle accel/feel) got 19.2mpg. Last fill up was 89 as well, but 21.3mpg...that is because I had a trip on the freeway for 140miles going 70mph. I will report back after this next tank runs out. But even if I take a slight hit, I'd be ok with that, because it drives that much better in my opinion. My only nit pick is I wish it would shift to 5th gear at 45mph. But I have a feeling once I get used to driving it, I'll just get to 47-48mph and slowly drop down to 45mph, which it stays in 5th when I've done that (45mph is the common speed limit in my area, damn cali)

It's been said many times here, but I'll say it again...Thank you OP for this amazing device! I was truly about ready to get rid of the truck the transmission was pissing me off so much. I am a happy camper now! Hopefully this info helps others who are thinking of trying it out!

P.S. I am also impressed with how well everything is thought out on the device. Being able to cancel mid drive, re-initiate, default off if something goes haywire, leave shift points lower when cold, etc. This is clearly not some hacked up homebrew mod. It is a very well thought out and engineered device! Hats off to you again OP!

How do I remove console to mount my SSP under the IQ charger or what post number has instructions on how to remove it? My SSP should be arriving tomorrow for the wife Taco. I'm slowly reading through the 2100+ post and cannot seem to find it.

There is a video on their website on how install. Very straight forward.

When you have the center consul removed it’ll be apparent on where to put the ssp.

I've watched that video several times. I see where some people are mounting under their charger. So I guess my question should have been. Is there more I have to remove of the console to mount under the charger or is it accessible from what is shown in the video?

    Thank you

No not at all. Once you have the center part removed you’ll see the empty space just forward under the qi charger.

I installed mine in a parking lot in like five minutes because I was too impatient to wait to get home to install it. The video is very good.

Another lesson learned. I saw a picture of the SSP mounted behind the console. I cleaned the area with alcohol before mounting. Saturday morning the heater was running while driving on the interstate and the SSP fell off and landed/rested on my foot. Turns out that was the heater duct. I questioned mounting it there but the picture didn’t lie. I pulled off the interstate and stuck on the side of the console. Today I plan to lift the console and put it under the charger where it should have been placed the first time.

Just went from 9 minutes to about 12. Now it took me 9 minutes the first time because I am a senior citizen that moves a little slower

The SSP has really improved the drive ability of the truck. I can’t imagine what the OV tune would do.
