Yep. Mine still shifted shitty (gear hunting) after the TSB. It was only marginally better, so I went back to SSP and I'm happy again.

Just installed my SSP on wednesday. Can’t believe how much better the truck drives especially when i need to pass a car or driving up hills. Major difference for me.

Didnt bother with doing the TSB.

I bought the SSP a few months ago but never installed it because I was running in ECT mode 100% and felt ok with it, plus I'm a procrastinator. Then I heard about the TSB and went ahead and had it done at my 20K service. At first, I was mildly impressed with the TSB, but in reality I think it was more of a placebo effect. Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that the performance has returned to shit and will now install my SSP. And, at the time, I thought I had wasted my money buying the SSP after getting the TSB! No way!

I just purchased a Shiftsense Pro V2 for my 2017 Tacoma. I brought my truck into the Toyota dealership today and told them the transmission response is so sluggish and terrible, and asked for the TSB update from Toyota. They are doing that, and said they would also "reset" the transmission computer so that it could relearn my driving habits and adapt accordingly.

My question for you guys is whether I can install the Shiftsense Pro V2 now, or if I should wait a while until my transmission has "re-learned" my driving habits. Thanks!

Some guys drive their trucks hard , and it learns that in D which probably is a good thing for someone that wants the truck to be more responsive and does not care about MPGs .
Some guys normally drive like a grandpa and it learns that . Then when they need the more responsive truck it does not know how to be one because it learned grandpas ways lol. This is why after resetting the ECU it feels much more responsive .
The transmission only learns in the D mode so if you do not use D , it will not learn . I recommend installing the SSP and from now on only use the S mode with the SSP.
Hope this makes sense . Enjoy the SSP.

Great, thanks so much for the feedback @Taco16LB. That answered my question - transmission only learns in D, so if I use SSP in S mode it won't affect the "learning." I'll probably never drive in D again.

Cool , I should add that you can also use the S mode without the SSP and it will still NOT learn !
in that rare instance when you are on a flat road with no wind and want to use 6th gear under seventy (72)? mph ,SSP will not do it , so that is when you may want to just shift it in S mode ,up to to 6th , and let it save some fuel .

easy to take off before taking to dealer, if that is a concern. It does not leave any trace, because all it is doing is automating s-mode shifting

I had to remove the ShiftSense Pro. I brought my truck to the dealer for the 15K service and they gave me a hard time about it.
So, when I brought it in for the 20K service on Friday, I removed the ShiftSense Pro.

Today, I tried to put it all back together and the plug that connects to the shit handle broke – more specifically, the cables snapped.

Is there any way I can get it fixed? I hate driving the truck without it.

    Best Regards,

    James

Just curious - what did your dealer say about it? My dealer has never said anything about mine.

They pointed out that I had a 3rd party transmission shifter and that I should probably not use it.
Since I had bought the car used with 10K miles on it, I played dumb and told him I didn't know what he was talking about.
They showed it to me and I agreed to remove it....
I took that to mean they frowned against it and I prefer to avoid giving them any opportunity to decline and future claims.
I have dealt with dealers 2 times (Toyota and Ford more recently) with major repairs and they really grilled on services, asking a lot of questions.

I bought one of the first SSP and love everything about it except for when I come to a complete stop, sometimes instead of going from 3 to 1 gear it will stop in 2nd gear for like a sec causing the truck to jerk a bit. I think something was mentioned about this particular issue on this forum awhile ago. Has this been fixed or addressed in SSP V2?

What map do you all use for interstate driving at 78-82mph? I was excited to use mine last weekend and I couldn't tell any difference in any of the maps on the interstate, still shifting to much.
