Checked the OBD connection; made sure it's fully seated?

I waited awhile before posting, but since it's been more than a week and I have had a chance to test this in all kinds of driving, in city around town, and on the freeway I have to say that I really like this SSP. It works as advertised and really changed my opinion of the auto transmissions now. Too bad toyota hasn't fixed these issues, so if your on the fence about this....buy it!!!

I’ve got a couple of weeks on mine too now. It really is nice being in the right gear most of the time. My only issue is an occasional jolt when it downshifts to 3rd while I’m on the brake. It’s a monster difference.

I used mine for a couple months before changing to the lever 3 mode.. it fits my driving style much better. Only thing I don’t like is it won’t go into 6 gear until about 80 and you have to be on flat ground but around town it’s sooo much better.

I've had my Shiftsense Pro for two years now and am still happy with the results. Mine is the unit that is only fixed with one setting and it has worked out perfectly for me. Here's an additional tip for a new Toyota owner. I've added a product to enhance the throttle response. It's called Pedal Chip X and retail for $180. You can find it on Amazon or ebay. Although last time I looked it was going for $200. One of the worst things I noticed right away about my truck when I drove it off the lot was how far you had to put your foot into the pedal to get it to move the pedal chip x works similarly to a pedal Commander but doesn't give you as many programming options. It's less expensive and more simple to operate. I just keep it on the strongest setting. I have a very light foot so it's not jumpy off the line. The two as a combination working together is how this truck should have came from the factory.

Order #2603. I can't stand how this truck shifts....or vibrates on decel but let's stay on topic. Apparently Toyota could use some engineering help.

Not on mine. But I wouldn't want to disable the audible beep because I have the unit hidden underneath my center console so when I throw it from drive into sport mode I can hear that the audible beep to let me know that it has engaged. You also know that it has engaged because at a standstill it'll drop into S2 as where it would normally have dropped into S4. If you shift it in sport mode it will give multiple beeps to let you know it has turned off. Mine is tucked into my center console and it is not annoying at all. You kind of have to listen for it. Being placed in the center console under the phone charger I've got the on switch permanently taped and I simply used the shifter to decide when I want to manually turn it on and off.

Also, it is not very loud to begin with and I have to listen for it. .....like with the radio off and the AC on low.

I concur. Beep is minor and reassuring that it engages.

Think on a scale of one to ten:

    Seatbelt beep is a ten.

    SSpro a two maybe.

Pretty dang happy with the Shiftsense. Awesome little device, mounting took longer than install. Total about 10 minutes. Acceleration is night and day since the truck will actually hold a gear how it should. I'm actually driving it in Mode #1 which is the least aggressive and it's still 100x better than stock. I only wish this would control down shifts at times. Low speed turns (like at a stop light) and I'm still stuck into a higher gear until I mash it. Not a huge deal. Love this device.

Add a Pedal Chip X for throttle control. Huge difference especially paired with Shift Sense Pro. It's a cheap fix.

Yea I actually looked at the Pedal Commanders last night but all the failings turned me off. I'd rather not spend $300 and be stranded in addition to having electrical problems after uninstalling. That and outside the 30-day return window you have an expensive brick. Any idea if the Chip X's are more reliable? I have researched them much. I figured before I did all that I could likely just buy the newest tune when it's released and get the best of all worlds without the pedal controller.

I haven't had any issues and I purchase one for a friend as a gift. It's a life-changer! I paid $180 for mine and $200 for my friends and we both love it. .... I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with this product from a reliability standpoint, it's not remapping the ECU it's merely sending a stronger surge from the electronic throttle control. Very simple design. I'm not familiar with the Pedal Commander although I know it's popular it's also much more expensive.

I've been running a Shift Sense Pro for 2 years and Pedal Chip X for 1 year and will continue to highly recommend this combination.

I don't think it really matters that it may or may not be remapping the ECU. The sensor that picks up the pedal position can recognize differences between these units and the OEM signal, which can in turn lead to failure and confusion by the truck...hence so many people having to clear errors and limp their vehicles home. I'm sure this operates on the same premise as the Pedal Commander, which has seen it's fair share of failures. There may be some internal differences that make this more reliable, but at this point I'll wait on the tune that will actually address 10x more issues with performance than the bandaid of pedal chip.

I don't think there are any issues with this device. I've had it for 1 year and 20,000 miles. My friend has not had any problems with his unit. It's very non-invasive and takes about 1 minute to install. But to each his own. I can go on and on and on with every thread in any other forum about any modification that someone has made and an adverse effect that would stop me from doing it from something as simple as just going against the engineered manufacturer specs of tire size and the overall effect on the entire system because it is now thrown everything off. So if you're so inclined as to worry about any particular mod just don't do it and enjoy a stock vehicle. My vehicle is 3 years old with 60k miles and has had many mods and has never been in service for a single repair.

    Keep it stock

Seems like you're one of the few, I haven't been so lucky. It's not that I'm worried about a mod, but I've done enough research to say that the Pedal Commander ain't for me. The chip is something I can look into, but for the cost I'd rather just get the tune and address everything, gain a few hp, better driveability, shifting, etc. Mine won't be stock for long, and if it stays that way it'll likely get traded.
