I noticed yours stayed in 2nd gear at the red light. Is it supposed to do that?

*i did read all 29 pages so far and maybe I missed that it doesn't go down to 1st gear.

The install guide states the lowest commanded gear with ShiftSense is s2 . Even though the dash may indicate s2 , the vehicle will still use 1st gear when starting from stop .

    a bunch of mods

That is correct controlling any lower than S2 was unnecessary based on the results of our testing because the OEM shift point from 1-2 were already well placed. S2 is basically the 'max' allowed gear, which is how the S mode functions, so it will continue to start out in 1st as it likes

Also, the reason for your delayed upshift you noticed in the video was because you abruptly let off the throttle completely. In order to optimize engine braking, it avoids upshifting if you are totally off the throttle, which is what you felt there. Once you slowed down and got back on it with lighter throttle is when it made the upshift.

You have the gearing logic nailed perfectly for how I drive - thank you so much for making this truck livable!

    You, Sir, are my hero!

I look forward to seeing how this works while towing.

That's about $200k in revenue. Toyota could make op a millionaire this year because he is more responsive than they are.

Okay, I just read the owner's manual, pages 96-98, and tried to turn off the S1, S2, S3, etc., notifications in the gauge cluster and cannot figure it out. Can someone who has made this adjustment please walk me through it? I'd really appreciate it very much!

It's a check box you need to deselect. I believe it's labeled Shift Changes. You do this from the steering wheel controls, not the head unit.

Someone's math is off. Think orders started at 1000. Regardless...OP deserves it for the time and effort put in.

I'm order #1003 and had this installed for about 3 days now.
Even with the added weight of a winch, sliders and 285s, I feel like this was made especially for me.
I installed the unit behind the center console and I can barely hear the beep at all.
It's pretty great for its price point and has done an excellent job in making me feel like I don't need to throw money at a re-gear.

!= Is the proper way to write that since we are talking about ops programming.

    Also, I made the distinction.

Everybody seems happy with OP's product. I'm not seeing any complaints about MPG taking a big hit. How does it do when you kick it down to pass somebody on a 2 lane? Stock it's like I've got to plan the pass so it doesn't surprise my Taco try to figure out what gear it needs.
