I just installed and drove the truck. He replied to my message and suggested I drive it for a few days without the scan gauge. He doesn't seem to think it will be an issue. I have gotten so used to having my scan gauge I don't want to give it up. I do use it for tranny temps and fwt and mileage. Thanks for the info!

BTW...I installed mine under the console....I don't hear a thing. The beep is not an issue.

I haven't had any problems with scan gauge II by itself. Have you checked the firmware version on your scan gauge?

Installed and drove a short distance so far, but need more time behind the wheel for a good idea of pros/cons.
    • It feels snappier from 2-3.
    • I think I got used to the D shift points, because 3-4 and 4-5 feel a bit long toothed. I need more driving samples to get a real feel for the new points.
    • I went on a mediocre inclined overpass and it down shifted from 5-4, and getting back to 5 felt a bit longer than it should have. Again, I need more driving samples to better judge performance with inclines and winds.
    • The 5-6 shift felt like it just wasn't going to happen, but at ~76-77mph it finally changed. I'm still unsure how I feel about that.
    • The audible alert is incredibly helpful to know when the device is re-enabled from a prior deactivation action. I stored the unit under the Qi charge pad, so it's a faint noise I have to lower my radio and listen for to notice.
    • Using the device on an ODB2 splitter alongside my insurance device. That device only polls for trip mileage, hard brake/fast accel events, and night driving usage. No discernable impact to either device.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
Using a scangauge 2 to monitor my LOD setting and I've noticed that the engine is under a lot of load in 6 less than about 75 mph. I'm thinking he might have intentionally left 6th gear to 75+, because my RPMs are around 2000 (stock config) that way. Ironically, in 5th, I have seen the same MPG using the SG2 tool as I have with 6th around 65 - 74 MPH, with less stress on the engine (monitoring LOD).

Keep the information coming, good feedback here. Learning lots.

Anyone happen to have one near the Houston area let me know, would love to come ride in a truck with this.

you hit the nail right on the head with this observation on engine performance and operating-efficiency.

It's a crying shame this transmission hasn't been fixed by Toyota yet. But at there defense I don't think it can be I think it's the lack of power of the 3.5.

Please stop using the term 'powerband', it's no where near the powerband which is about 5600rpm.

Torque curve is far more accurate and makes more sense.

For me running 285/70/17's and extra weight from mods its been an all around MPG improvement of 4 MPG on city and highway! Its made my truck feel like my 07 Tacoma . Its not for everyone , i get the feeling it works really well for guys running oversized tires! Then you have the guys that are never going to be happy! I have put off getting a gear change it's been that good for me!

It's going to get even better I picked up 4 MPG's both city and highway! I have over 2500 miles on it now in all kinds of driving! I was in the 15's on the highway but have been averaging 19 and it crusing just fine in 5th i could careless about 6th at this point!

I am thinking about adding Sprint Booster to the ShiftSense Pro should make for an interesting combination!

Yes, several people emailed asking about the status. They were all delivered to the USPS last thursday night so you should be receiving them early this week.

It seems to be the guys running stock tires are the guys not liking the new shift points as much and makes perfect sense!
