Agreed. Do I use it all the time? No. But like jsey21 states it's there when you want it and it does what it was designed to do. Once she's in 4th and I'm on a flat long stretch I drop into "D", flick the cruise and it's in heaven. Right, If you wanted the truck to shift "exactly" where you want it then you should have bought a stick. 2 cents, thank you.

For those of us who needed or wanted the DCLB, MT was not an option. I thought about the MT as all my trucks had been MT. When I purchased mine only SB and Access cab came in MT. I needed the DCLB for camping with the dogs so no MT for me.

The AT is sooo much nicer for stop n go and now with the SSP, it's even better.

    ahoy ye taco capt'ns -

installed SSP this morning and did the return 250 miles of my weekly 500 mile commute. really like the performance difference and, as others have said, the ability to switch to a more intuitive and, as i would call it, "under-engineered" transmission engagement.

    two questions tho:
    1. some folks have mentioned putting the unit UNDER the Qi charger; does that mean out of sight and sitting on top of the insulation under there? or somehow affixed to the underside of the Qi charger?
    2. i'm not clear on how best to affix wire to the OBD connector, and as that was left a bit vague in the instructions i'm wondering if anyone here might provide some clear directions/options.
    thank you.

If you don't see any good places to zip-tie, I know one user had mentioned he wrapped a few small pieces of bubble wrap around the wire and was able to tuck it into the small-space at the bottom of the dash. I liked that idea!

I just placed the unit under the q-charger. I can still hear the beeps which is useful.

I didn't see anywhere to zip tie so I just put tension on the wire by threading it into a crack between trim pieces and put the wire above the pedals on a couple of bolts that stick out.

From what Ive seen/heard, I know many users have located it within the console or under the QI charger area. Personally, I see no problems with that at all. I know many people like to keep the clean look of the interior, so this is a very good solution for that. And most have stated the beep is still heard, so functionally is good as well.

Went to the dealer twice last week. Left it installed both times, just turned the switch to off, so it wouldn't beep. Wasn't worried at all... But then again, I was dropping it off for external reasons. They had no reason to hook anything up or check the OBD port.

I actually used the aggressive mounting tape that came with the unit. I mounted it, cable pointing down, on a very flat, alcohol clean, surface that is actually the A/C vent. I tucked it way up behind the dash so I can still get at the switch if I ever needed to and don't need to remove the console. 3M makes an awesome VHB tape. (Very High Bonding) which I used a small piece of that too. This stuff is crazy strong and strengthens as it ages. Anyway, I apologize for the misstatement I made regarding buying the truck with MT. I had no idea that a MT was not available in a DCLB configuration. My bad.
So now the transmission "S" mode matches the sticker on my truck bed "4X4 TRD Sport". :headbang:

I used those little wire clips for Christmas lights up under the dash and ran the wires in those. Worked great for me.

Also, I hid the main box under the driver's seat and ran the wires along the WeatherGuard floor liners I have. Keeps it out of the way and you can't see it unless you're looking for it.

I somehow just ran the cable without the zip ties. I looked and looked but couldn't find a place to use the ties. It's been a week and the wire hasn't fallen so I think I'm good.

How do you know if your truck has that charger compartment? I'm thinking mine doesn't...

Mine does not have a qi charger. I don't know where exactly others are tucking it in, since I have not seen a picture or a detailed description, but when you raise up the plastic around the shifter, you can tuck the box in past where the cup holders are. I presume that is the spot everyone uses.

^^^This. There was a piece of 1/2" carpet insulation flap tucked under the spot in front of the cup holders. Essentially under where the Q-charger would sit. Just pushed mine under that carpet insulation flap. It's snug...not tight.

May get a picture this evening if I can'

I never understood the constant complaints about how slow the truck is. That was until I drove it outside of Texas and to Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico for a road trip. Holy hell. The crazy 4-5-4-5-4 shifting made me want to drive it off a cliff. With the TRD intake, it sounded like a damn bipolar donkey "eee aww eee aww eee". Hope this fixes the issue.

    Donkeys sound like that, right?

This location was only temporary. But I've yet to move it. Seems fine to me and so simple to take out if ever needed. Excuse the dog hair and dirt.
