Hi, I have an aftermarket that I've got for sale. Buyer contacted me regarding shipping, suggested I just wrap it up in moving blankets. I went to my local UPS, got two different answers on two different days! Wondering if anyone has done this? Also wondering was moving blankets enough to keep it from getting damaged. Thanks

    use cardboard......maybe 2 layers

if banged into or dropped usualy not much damamge

    the blankets wont help impact

getting used cardboard takes effort.......usually free ( old appliance- refrigerators should supply plenty )

then wrap with clear dock type saran wrap

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I have had partially assembled farm implements delivered via truck. They were loaded on a pallet essentially bare with no serious damage. Also overly packaged in multiple layers of heavy-duty corrugated cardboard with minimal damage.
Consider who will be responsible for any claim if damaged in transit.
If I were shipping it, I'd make sure the terms were FOB your dock, and the buyer is responsible for any claims necessary due to damage that occurs in transit. Takes more pictures than you think necessary - both before packaging and after, because you may have to prove its condition before you handed it off to UPS or a common carrier.
This ain't like dealing with Amazon (from the buyer's position).
BTW, talk to a local appliance dealer - they may be able to provide the corrugated cardboard. I'd wrap it with the moving blankets, then with the cardboard. If it's likely to be handled with a fork lift after leaving your place, definitely put in on an appropriately sized pallet.
Good luck - hope it goes well for you and your buyer.

Thank you for the help. Tried the cardboard route. Was hesitant about the blanket route since damage would ruin the sale and cause too many nightmares. I'm going to stick to the local in-person selling route Even if it takes me a few extra months.

Wise move. This way the buyer can see what he/she is getting before handing over their hard-earned cash. And you won't have to deal with any alleged shipping related damages.

I think that's a wise move. Unless the bumper is on a pallet and shipped via freight (assuming it's steel) then the chance of damage is high.

    A lotta stuff ;)
So check out your local hub for freight shipping. I used a pallet and then connected half of another pallet to it so that the entire bumper was unable to touch anything unless they flipped over the pallet. Did the cardboard method and decently wrapped it. And did not have an issue. some freight companies charge a lot for anything over the size of a normal pallet. So I would get quotes before doing it. But I did not have a problem doing it that way. Also insure it. And then either way you will get your money.
