I agree 1000%. They are useless imo. And the red is ridiculous and not useful at all imo

I always thought these were over kill until recently after 3+ years running a canopy (just an ARE MX shell no extra weight on it, mostly highway miles) and noticing the back hatch wasn't closing and opening the same. I knew right away what was going on at least and ordered up a set of stiffeners that I'll install this week

They did for me! Long trips are a lot more comfortable now that there’s more leg support!

Yes...long trips are more comfortable. Sight line is slightly better too. Worth the modest cost and effort.

I saved my oem lights but not sure if they survived removal. I need to double check but this thread is making me want to put them back in and just swap in an LED bulb.

I actually really like my red map lights, the white dome light illuminates the entire cab so it's the best of both worlds.

Agree with you there. I am a fan of the red lights. I don't the brightness of the white lights but only really need them when I need to really find something. I pulled my interior out and funny enough haven't had a chance to use them in over a year.

If you study lighting, this is actually a terrible idea (super bright white LED map lights). You want map lights to be warm colored and not high intensity. Super bright high color temp map lights is the worst thing you could do for your night vision, and a significant downgrade from stock for use while driving. The bright high color temp light will immediately eliminate your nigh vision actually making it harder to see. They are only useful for finding something in the vehicle while parked.

I would agree there. That is mainly why I got them and why I liked the Red but a 3 way light with a softer one would be the complete package.

Is that why officers use red interior lighting?

Red light will minimize affecting your night vision. Same reason for red flashlights. The drawback being that color will be monochromatic.
