I love the 4.88's. It all kinda depends on your needs.

The general consensus seems to be

    35's + Auto = 4.88's
    35's + Manual = 4.56's

I don't daily drive my truck so I don't mind the crappy gas mileage as much as if I DD the truck. If you're thinking of ordering your diffs built like most I would call Chase at ECGS and tell him your style of driving and how your truck is set up and he'll help you out. I basically had the same struggle for a little while. 4.56 or 4.88. I told Chase that my truck is a big pig with a lot of armor and often a decent amount of camping gear, I don't daily drive it, and I love off-roading and camping. He told me 4.88's would be the way for me.

Give him a call and he'll help you out!

Why would an elocker affect gearing choices? :notsure:

Smaller ring gear correct? 4.88 less teeth or something. Irk but on the first gens I know the 5.29 that my buddy had broke multiple times. My 4.88 never broke

Not exactly sure. That would be a good question for Chase at ECGS for anyone looking to regear. I was happy about having a sport because of the beefier 8.4" rear end. I had planned to go with an ARB locker anyways so it worked out

Technically it's not smaller any smaller, except pinion sizes. Choose gearing based on where you want power, a locker isn't going to make a difference in that
