Hey @Shmellmopwho. How hard would you say a frame would be to weld up for this kind of body? I'm thinking about it...

California is 1500 lbs and greater requires brakes.

I just would think after that bed is ready you would have to consider the tires, RTT, recovery gear, and what not and that's seems to be a heavy sob. I'm not downing your idea or anything just dont won't to see you get to deep in this and wish you went another route. Also would that bed be able to make it down any trails without causing problems?

I can see the inspiration coming from the Aussie off road trailer like Conqueror. But I believe those are all (or mostly) aluminum. The tongue frame frails look as though they may be galvi.

Yeah you are right. I honestly kind of blanked on weight when looking.

Just blinded by a good price...

Brakes are always a good thing! If every axle (tow and towed) has brakes stopping is not only easier and safer, you can also adjust the amount of force to the trailer and use them harder on steep downhills to keep the trailer in line with the truck. Twisty mountain passes become fun again (not sports car fun - but fun for a truck towing a trailer fun). Even with our heavy weight teardrop, the trailer brakes can make the whole set up stop in almost the same distance the truck alone can stop......it's kinda crazy how much they change the dynamics of towing

I think my best bet I'll be aiming for is either from scratch or cut a totaled truck in half.

Haha getting a lot of the stuff in pretty quickly! Hopefully have it up and rolling by next week. We'll see though. I wanna have it built for the summer.

Doin a frame for that would be easy. You'd almost build the same time of frame I'm doing and set this on top of it.

The more I think about brakes, the more I like the idea of it. Thanks for the feedback on yours. I think the company I bought the axle from sells the brakes for like $100. I don't know if that's a good deal or not but I'll have to do more research I guess haha

I agree dude. I was thinking of going to a junk yard and cutting a truck in half too. But the only one that I have seen that I reeeeeeally like is @trdagule

I decided to just build from scratch, that way I could weld off the sides and add later on down the line. With a truck bed off of a truck, your options are slightly limited when it comes to adding stuff on the sides. Just my opinion
