Now, this may be a bit remedial, but I'm slightly confused.

Pops and I have a 1997 Tacoma. 3" body lift and an obvious 2-3" spacer upfront. The rear is definitely a big ass shackle. Anyhow, picked up some white body pro comps for the rear and dad is trying to put them on. He said the top stud is too large for the shock to fit over? I know what he is explaining but is doing something wrong?

Okay just checked. The factory studs on the truck are too big, they won't allow for the pro comp shock bushing to slide over.

Can you return the procomps and get a decent/good shock?

May not want to try too hard to install them, so they're not marred up and easier to return.

Yea they are getting returned. Basic white body nitrogen shocks. Only place that had shocks in to fit were rancho oil shocks. Fit like a glove. Effin 4wp

I would like the cheapest white body shock you have for a 1997 Tacoma. It needs to be for 0-2 inch lift or 1-3" lift via possible add a leaf and definite shackles. Right now the truck eye to eye is 18" for the shock in it now

Okay sir, do you have the truck here,

No I don't, you don't have a book that gives you shock length for kits of 1-3 or 0-2 inches, yes I do I'll just need to know how big your lift block is.

Sir, there is no block, it's a possible add a leaf and a definitive shackle.

Okay and you said you don't have the truck here

    No I don't,

Okay I have two shocks in stock, 90 bucks,

    Each?!

    Yes, they are bilsteins

I asked for the cheapest white bodies

Oh trust me you want the bilsteins, they are much more flexy and responsive on trail, ride better over the whoops and when you drop off a rock they will stabilize much faster.

Sir, we live in va beach. It's flat as a pancake and there is absolutely no where you can drive fast over hilly terrain. There are no rock faces and worst case scenario I'll be doing 25 miles an hour on compacted sand at the beach. This is a 750 dollar truck that will take me to and from work.

Oh you did say white bodies, yeah non in stock

    No thanks, thank you

Oh wait maybe so and so can help you

    (Whole lift rigamoral again)

Yes I do have two shocks that will work for your truck if they don't fit bring em back, you should really look into the Chevy 1998 2wd leaf spring swap. Your truck will be so much more flexy and articulate sooo much better. Can I set u up for an appointment to fab those up for you?

Why? So I can pose on a curb at the mall?
IT is a commuter and hunting truck I think I have all the flex I need.

Fast forward to today, they fit length wise but are not the correct eye diameter. Nothing I get from them works as supposed to.

Oh well, sorry for the rant.

Only experience with whitebodies i have is with skyjackers. Worse riding shock in the history of suspensions. Think theyre valved for the back of a loaded dump truck.

Probably are, they are universal shocks so they have to be able to support heavy duty light trucks as well as the tiny trucks. But here's the thing guys, I'm not looking for performance, it stays on the 90% of the time. There's rarely any weight in the back minus the cap. I just needed to control the spring as the shocks I took off were absolutely shot. I have a 2015 ram 3500 Cummins 4 door long bed 4x4 6 speed standard I drive mostly.

Excellent link and price, unfortunately I just paid 80 for two of their oil shocks. They'll do

I feel your pain brother. I'm in Norfolk. I don't off road much out here at all. Utah was a different story. Glad it's sorted out. I've also felt devinzz pain as well. In my kidneys after I put on some cheap universally valved shocks on the rear of a nissan hardbody I owned. Stiffest ride I'd ever been in.
