So I've had these 6112s laying around, originally for my 16 but I traded that for a 19 MT. I put the shocks together a while back and questioned the amount of threads left. The shock has a new hat and set at Position 5. The nut is tighten so that the top bushing is flush with the washers and the bottom bushing does not turn, which to my understanding is correct.
These are for the 2nd gen but that shouldn't make a difference. Anyhow, I am going to install them next week and to know what you guys think about the thread count.

Yes. The ones for 2nd gen are suppose to ride. A little nicer. Least from what a guy at Rogue off-road told me.

Thanks for the clarification. I've owned both  and totally understand that they are 3rd gens.

Shocks are for a 2nd gen but ride nicer for the 3rd gen trucks. Least what I was told from a guy that drove both 2nd and 3rd gen trucks with these shocks. He said that these were a tad bit softer riding.

I am just asking about the thread count on the shock. Not getting into a debate on what truck these belong on. Thanks.

There are some pics in the 6112 thread in the Suspension forum and those appear similar to yours.

    What?...

3rd gen front ends are 300lbs heavier in the front than 2nd gens. The 3rd gen come with 650-700# springs compared to 600# that the 2nd gen come with.

That guy either doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or thinks they ride nicer/a softer ride due to the springs being sagged out

It’s amazing how many people think 2nd and 3rd gen suspension is interchangeable

Most likely because the 3rd gen is a little heavier.

Ah. Well then. I learned something. Springs are different. I thought the valving was different on the 2nd gen springs also.

Indeed. You are correct but valving is also different between models of 3rd gen

Guess I will see how these work. Might have to upgrade the springs later. I've added the RCI skid and 27f x2 Northstar Battery and SOS rock sliders. Should be interesting. The rear is getting some weight. Going to run the OME medium duty leafs and 5160s.

What’s crazy is I ran OME medium front shocks (90021’s with the medium 590# springs) and they were crazy stiff and jarring compared to the ADS coilovers I run now with 700# springs and I have a lo-pro bumper and winch.

Valving makes a huge difference in stiffness. I feel OME designed their front shocks for heavy-ass overlanding rigs vs common rigs

As for the Dakar leaf pack (OME) I run the medium 6-leaf pack as well and it is cherry. Keep in mind if you run more than 300lbs all the time you probably want to put that extra HD leaf into that pack to make it a 7-leaf

I'll have to count the leafs. I know I had to put the extra leaf in the pack. Idk if that was to make it medium duty or what. It's been so long sense I put them together lol. I have a bed rack and Tepui tent with all my gear going on the rear so yeah =/. Guess we will see.
