    Hello all,
    I'm new to this forum and Id like your advise. I bought my 2006 Tacoma about 6 months ago (its completely stock). I need new shocks for it and I'd also like to get a small lift.
    What type of lift would you suggest? I don't want anything crazy just an inch or two and I know nothing about shocks but I assume they go hand in hand.
    This is my first truck and I want to learn all I can. Being a girl I don't want to get ripped off by a mechanic. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    the budget friendly option would be Bilstein 5100s, with the front set on the first or second ring, and a (and dare i say without the TW masses raining hate on me) a good quality block spacer on the rear, or better yet, an Add-a-Leaf, depending on your uses.

    There are probably a thousand threads on the site already addressing this exact question though. you can google: "site:tacomaworld.com budget lift options" or something similar and you'll find plenty of reading material.

    The biggest thing you need to ask yourself, is what are you going to accomplish with the lift, What your budget is, Is just for Luke's, for performance, Is just for Luke's, for performance, and is it mainly going to be for offroad, on road, Daily driver..... Are you planning on carrying much weight in the back....

    Mostly looks, some off-roading and no I don't see myself carrying a lot of weight. It is my daily driver so I want a comfortable ride...

    if you're going off roading at all, my recommendation would still be the 5100s, but use a Old Man Emu coil up front, and 3-leaf progressive Add-A-Leaf in the rear. you'll get the lift, and the new, longer coil, and progressive AAL will maintain a more comfortable ride than using the stock coil up front, and a single Leaf AAL.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Keep in mind tires are what create actual ground clearance at the axle lines.

    Suspension lift doesn't do that, nor does it particularly allow for taller tires. Wheel specs have more to do with tire fitment than lift does.

    For example, run a tire 2" larger than stock and you get 1" of real lift (radius of tire). And yes, it lifts everything.

    Something to consider.

    Yes I thought about that but the truck came with new tires so I didn't want to change them.
