Shocks or bumpstops?

    '16 DCSB TRD OR, '98 regular cab 4x4
    Looking for what to do.

    2016 DCSB TRD OR. Stock + slider steps and a fiberglass canopy riding on the stock bilsteins with 75k miles. I have the OR because I wanted the locker at the boat launch not because I plan to offroad. Dirt and gravel roads are about as offroad as I get. I basically like the stock ride except for - it bottoms all the time, especially the rear on some pavement whoops and some speedbumps.

    What I'm looking for is to keep the stock ride but soften the bottoming. I've looked at Accutune's Fox2.5 DSC, OME BP-51's, or Bilstein 8112's. Either for DIY adjustability or thinking that a position sensitive setup would get me some of the results I'm looking for. On the other hand, feeling that shocks oriented towards driving fast off road aren't a good fit.

    I started to wonder if something much cheaper like better bumpstops like Timbrens could get me some of the results I'm looking for.

    How crazy am I?

    Not crazy, limited uptravel causes bottoming out so a small lift would help a bit.

    But my bet is that your rear springs have had it, and they are sagging, especially with the occasional towing and age.

    Take a photo of your rear leaf springs at rest, and if you can how close they are to bump stops.

    I was bottoming out hard in my last truck until I did heavier leaf springs and matched it with OEM upgrade bilstiens.

    That's my left and right side. The ruler is 1.75 inches wide. My driveway has a bit of twist and I'm going to say that's why the left and right aren't equal.

    Any idea what this distance should be?
