    Anyone else notice this?
I've seen rocker panels painted like this almost like a rubberized paint (had some peal off on a previous vehicle), adds texture and added durability, but never on doors as well.

I did notice scuffs when I took delivery which they did take care of and buffed out, but didn't notice this paint. I know there's really nothing I can do about it now if it is shitty paint. But wasn't sure if this was normal or not. Figured its normal for rockers but can't tell if this is a textured paint for protection or just shitty spraying

I only noticed this because on the topic...
bird shit on my new truck, went to clean it with waterless car wash. Let it soak a little bit but still didn't come off easy and left a bit of damage on the clear coat now that its off.

Normally I would do a proper wash but as you can see...its snowing out so couldn't really do much to get it off and I didn't want to leave it and have the acids in the shit eat away at the clear coat. Already tried megiurs scratch repair...helped but didn't get rid of all of it.
I know its going to get scuffed and scratched when on the trails its just a piss off the truck isn't even a month old and already has this.

I have the same thing. Looks like a protective coat under the paint

That's not shoddy work, that's textured paint/decal to resist paint chipping.

Yep noticed the 3M on the rear fender near the tail lights when I was removing bird droppings from there as well.

Thought it was usually charged as an extra to get since I didn't ask for it but guess its standard on them.

    1) Our trucks have thicker orange peel paint on the lower half of our doors. It's normal.
    2) Bird shit won't scratch your paint like that. Left over time, it would etch your clear coat in the shape of the shit. It could be your rag/towel you used for the waterless wash scratched it OR there could have been some pebble in the bird crap that scratched the paint as you washed it.

    3) A proper DA buffer with a minor rubbing compound will get that scratch out in a matter of minutes.

ya I figured a proper polish and rubbing compound would its just -8C today so can't really get out there and do a proper wash.

Used a waterless wash and shop towel. I know to be careful with it so after about 3 wipes I'd get a new piece. But guess the bird poop had grit to it and caused the scratches.
Guess once it warms up I can get a good polish on it to clear it up. Plus get a good coating of wax.
Hopefully sitting won't cause any more issues.

Ouch. I don't think it's ever been under like 15 degrees here where I live.

Also shop towels will always cause micro marring on clear coat. Definitely wouldn't cause a scratch like that, but on black paint it will leave some marring. My previous car was black and I would do a yearly paint correction that took 12-16 hours...I vowed never to get a black car again lol.

haha that's one reason I chose the dark grey over black.

I'm just pissed, I know better. Hell I've had numerous compliments on my jetta for the great condition its body and paint is in given its 11 years old since I wash and wax it so much in the warmer months.
Didn't think a quick spray and wipe would be so bad but the droppings were really dried (if anything probably frozen) onto the paint and required a bit of effort to remove. The droppings on the rear fender came off easy with one light wipe but this one was a bitch.
Guess once its warm I'll just need to take a few hours and give it a good polish to get these scratches out.

Ya its been around +2 to -6 the past few days here.
Was -30 C with the wind on friday morning.

My 3M is already starting to yellow a little bit and it drives me batshit. It's one of those things where it's only in the right light and you can juuust barely see it, but I'm extremely particular about it so I might end up taking it off.
I traded black car problems for white car problems... At least it doesn't immediately look dirty the day after washing.

    I know the feeling dude.
Very picky about stuff like that.
Luckily the sales guy I bought from was young and also a bit of a car enthusiast so he understood me. Told me how they'll detail for me and I replied with 'ya I doubt it will be to my standards'

He laughed and said "no dealer's detail will meet an enthusiasts standards I know"

Yes that is the rock guard stuff. I'm glad it's up on the doors as I have had quite a few rocks kicked up on the lower door panels and it has prevented some dings!

I noticed the same thing the night I got home from the dealer. Then, I ignored it and didn't think of it again until now. Glad it's normal
