Got my drum brake fixed this morning...basically, something froze and seized overnight, probably because I parked the truck right after dunking it in that stream crossing by second camp.

Anyway, somehow the e-brake actuating lever worked it's way outside of the brake shoe and into the return spring, stretching the spring out, pushing it against the wheel hub, and causing the brake to adjust WAY too tight...the shuffling sound in the first vid is the brake dragging.

Using two small prybars I was able to work the e-brake actuator back behind the shoe where it belongs, bent the lip on the back of the wheel hub so it cleared the (now no longer pooched out) return spring, and everything's back to normal.

Final step was to adjust the passenger rear drum down quite a bit. This required a second removal of the wheel and drum. Fun fact about these tacoma drum brakes: You can adjust them tighter from the grommet access on the backing plate, but you can't adjust them looser. That requires pulling the drum, prying the ratchet mechanism back, and using a small prybar or screwdriver to turn the adjustment gear.

Anyway, all is as it should be now.

I'm good from front to rear of transfer case on skids. Just the drive shaft I gotta worry about. I hope I fixed the engine problem. Found one of the cam sensors wasn't seated all the way but that shouldn't have thrown the code it did. Took what is usually the problem out and tested it and the oil control valve and it actuated like it was suppose to. Drove it and it did shutter and have a lack of power or shut off or any code like yesterday. Drove it

I dunno man. Not really anything to tell. I'm not sure how it went wrong...something froze in the wrong place overnight...there's plenty of threads on here already covering drum brake anatomy. I'm not sure this is a problem that will reproduce for a lot of people.
