Would this material work well as a hood liner?

 

You could use it, i know people that have. Some even put this stuff on the tail gate.
I would just recommend cleaning under the hood with a de-greaser and making sure the surface is perfectly clean.Since this is a higher heat environment, id also recommend when applying to definitely apply heat to sheet as its applied.

I believe @3378jakesr5 put some on his or some of the trucks he was helping @ the tail gate and was very happy with it there

How many packs will I need to do the floor and the back wall on a double cab?

 

To do the full floor and back wall is about 55 SQ feet when measured
I know the back wall down to the top of the storage compartment is about 4.5-5 sheets and the floor is about 30-35 sq feet from the top of the storage compartment. You May be able to do it with 1 pack i.e 10 sheets but 20 sheets will do the job and the left over you can put out at least the outer door skins
