When at full lock to the right the, the rack and pinion shoots a constant stream of power steering fluid through this little hole on the worm gear right behind the inner tie rod. I read somewhere that the hole is a pressure relief for the rack but my question is why is it shooting PS fluid out of it? Could something be clogged or is the rack going need to be rebuilt? I attached this image from another forum to show where its coming out of. Thank you in advance for any help/commentary. [IMG]

While I'm not exactly sure what the intended purpose of that hole is, I'm fairly certain it's not a pressure relief hole. That portion of the rack is covered by the inner tie rod boot, fluid designed to relieve pressure out of this hole would ultimately just fill the boot up. Your PS pump on the other hand has a spring loaded pressure relief to prevent over pressurization, this would also cover the rack if pressure was ever an issue.

That said, a seal in the rack has definitely failed. You could have a shop rebuild it, but for not much more money, you could just get a new rack, fresh, tested, all the fittings new, and not rusted. Best price I could find online for a OEM 96' Tacoma rack was $495.
