Interesting, other than weight savings what else does this offer?

I seems this is a little bit of a rhetorical post, so I'm guessing you want someone to ask, who did it...?

Yah, it's getting close for new set of those too! But solving all the Tacoma driveline issues is a must! No more axel wrap, vibrations, dealing with center bearing, etc... On my 2nd gen I spent more on carrier bearings and other fixes than it ended up costing me to go get a drive shaft made. So on this one, I skipped all the BS and just had one made :)

Hope it works out. There is a reason Toyota designed it the way they did. I'm sure it would have been a lot cheaper for them to go that route.

2 piece drivelines are generally installed solely because of cost

I know nothing about nothing, but looks like 2 piece driveshaft tucks in a bit higher, giving it less chance for damage off-road.

The one piece driveshafts are only Mall rated. Two piece are Off-road use certified

Two additional u-joints, a carrier bearing and the associated hardware somehow equate to financial savings over a one piece?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate there's a little more to it than that.

Exactly, build a 2 piece DS with a CV, reinforce the CB mount and go with a TCCB. Tucks up out of the way and is almost bullet proof. 1 piece hangs to low and will get all bent up when transversing over a ledge.

    Stock-ish
Length is the main reason, you can only have so much length x diameter before you run into limits of how fast the shaft is spinning. Carrier bearing cuts the length in half so you can use a smaller piece of tubing and not worry about the limit.

Make sure to check with interference with the brace (for seat belts) behind the stock carrier bearing cross member. I had a one piece and it would rub on it slightly during rear suspension compression.

you have not been around very long have you? lol! the 2 piece drive shaft is a known issue especially once your lifted. Once you get to about 6 inches a new drive shaft is manditory, look at your center bearing its being pulled.

it will be fine, I have the same on on my 2nd gen, once you get to 6"+ lift there is plenty of room.

thats why its 4" aluminum. light as hell and thick walled. on my 2nd gen i put the aluminum driveshaft through every hell you can think of including jumps and flexing, no issues. and solved all the known drive shaft issues. if you don't lift it, then it's not a must have. you can get steel one piece for normal tacomas pretty cheap to fix vibrations and axel wrap issues.
