I am having trouble finding any shops around me that have a coil compressor and will mount my new ome springs on my 5100's. I have called 8-10 tire shops and alignment/general mechanics and only one has had the ability to do it. Motor City South said they would, but that there was liability involved and it would be $100. I have seen tons of write-ups on here where people get a local shop to do it for $30-40. Anyone know a shop that can do this for me around Atlanta for less than $100? Or any recommendations on what kind of shops i should be googling for before i call?

If your up for doing it yourself, the local auto parts chain store will typically loan out spring compressors (you leave a deposit, and get it back upon return).

There's a 4 wheel parts in Marietta, they might be able to do it for you.

Yeah, i have used those rental ones in the past working on my Jeeps, but they are really a pain, and without air tools would be difficult to get compressed to the point necessary for mounting i think. It was hard enough on the Jeep that isn't coilovers to get it compressed enough to just drop out from under the vehicle.

    I'll give 4wheel parts a call, I didn't think about that.

Lowrange, I actually never thought about that, using the jack to compress the spring seems like it would work well enough, but if i can get it done for less than $50 somewhere i would rather do that.

You can do it with jack stands and a jack. Two hour or less job with a buddy to help.

I did my own using the floor jack method. Less than 2 hours. Then had to have an alignment, which you'll need no matter how you get it done.

When you say the floor jack method, you mean like the video posted above? Or is there another method I haven't seen? Looks like I am giving this a shot today.

This right here is the way to do it. Its safer than any of those junk rental compressors you'll get. You're never in harms way because the spring is never in a position to be released. Its way quicker too. Ive used this method twice.

Myself and a few other people I have recommended it to have used this method. It was SO easy, and all others have agreed. Just have two set of hands and a quality floor jack (not that cheap thing under the back seat) and it's a breeze.

I know you're in Atlanta, but if you're willing to take a drive Whites Alignment and Suspension in Summerville, GA will do it for cheap. They did my suspension front and rear and assembled the front's for 125. New OME Dakar's and shocks in the rear and Bilstein's and Ome springs up front. And he aligns it after

Dugan is good people. Not the cheapest but it's done right.

So I ended up doing the fronts myself over the weekend using the floor jack method... Took a while because on both of the old shocks, the top of the shaft snapped off where the wrench held it, so i had to cut the nuts off with a sawzall (which is a little awkward to get to given the position near the top of the wheel well). Overall was pretty easy though once the issues were worked out.

I also stripped the hex part of the sway bar link bolt, so now its stuck loose and can't be tightened. I am pretty sure this is causing the small clunking noise i have on the driver's side. I'll have to cut it out and put a new link on this weekend.
Definitely front end high, with the 884's, will be getting AAL in soon to go back to factory rake.

Looks good! I'd bet you're right about the swaybay being what's causing the clunking. The same exact scenario happened when I helped my friend lift his 4runner. It's still clunking due to the loose sway bar link.

Got referred to Weaver's Brake and Alignment in Marietta. Awesome guys, do a ton of trucks and a ton of AALs and were competitively priced. Had them do the rear and an alignment since i have to travel for work later this week and wouldn't have time to do the rear. Glad i did, had to cut off the rear shocks. Also were able to get the sway bar link tightened back up so no more clunking. Love the way it drives now, and looks a lot better, i'll try and post a pic when i get home from the office.

Bad news is, the cam bolts in the LCA's were so seized up that they couldn't get it dialed in all the way. They hit it with a ton of penetrating fluid, and I am going to hit them a few more times this week, and take it back to them, he said they would try again for free, and if they couldn't get it cut the bolts and replace them. Apparently even though it is only a 2014 it has some rust that wasn't visible on the frame or suspension, but the nuts and bolts are all nightmares.

Other bad news: now i really want some new tires.

Lost my measurements from before, so not sure total gain... but i do remember i had 3/4 inch rake, and now it sits almost dead level, a little back end high, which is fine, so i assume i probably got the advertised 2" front and 1.5" out (took overload out), or something very close to it.
