Great question! And I'm 100% the least qualified to answer this question on here, bug my beat guess is the establishment of full responsibility, for yourself, your choices, family if you have one, belongings, future, stability, etc.

It can happen young for some and later for others, sometimes overnight and sometimes over time.

We do give my oldest crap that he says he's an adult until we counter with "wanna start paying all your bills?" He shuts up reall quick after that.

When they pass that tipping point of responsibility. I've met 12 year olds who were more of a man than some 30 year olds.
So, when that guy is responsible for the well being of himself and/or others, he is a man.
To answer your question, when a boy becomes a man is different for every male out there. Some males die of old age without ever becoming men.

 

Also, if you have to tell people you are one, you probably aren't.

Being a man is about making consistently responsible decisions beneficial to your current self and future self and family. I think me looking physically mature at an early age helped me, as I was treated as an adult, maybe not a man just yet at about 14. I was 6'2 195 with a goatee , pretty yoked from baling hay so people always thought I was older.

Being a man is also about restraint, yeh I could punch this idiot because he x,y,z but I'm not going to because nothing good comes from it.

That is leaving out how important I've grown to believe having a present father is to children, but more importantly how having a father being the spiritual leader of the family is as well... THAT'S a man.

 

I think when you start solving more problems than you create you're on your way.

Good morning, Wrenchmen!

I have a ground hog issue, I'm not sure if it is just 1 whistle pig with multiple holes, or if I have multiple pests. However, living in a "village" I cannot easily shoot these suckers on sight.

I heard one time that you can put Juicy Fruit chewing gum down their burrows and it blocks their digestive tract and eliminates them. Any thoughts on that? Any other non-explosive tips on ground hog elimination? Will they eat rat poison?

Not sure if they will eat rat poison or not, could always get you a conibear trap or two and it'll kill em for you.

To me, being a man is taking on and accepting responsibility, whatever the age. I think the transition from boyhood to adolescence prepares you for manhood and that continues to develop as you take on more responsibility, whatever the age.

I'll use my coworkers son as a not a man example, he's in his 30's, never had a job, plays video games all night and sleeps all day. He is the farthest thing from a man that a man can be. I will say that comes from his dad not being a man and teaching him about life.

On the other hand I'll use my dad as an example as being one of the manliest men I knew growing up. His parents were killed in a car wreck when he was 12, he could have went down so many roads but he chose to man up and get a job (professional firefighter), get married, start a family, always worked hard, etc. Could he have done better at some things? Absolutely. Did he fail at some things? Absolutely. Could I do better? Absolutely. Do I fail? Absolutely.

Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be married or have kids to be a man. Courage is one thing that stands out to me about being a man, standing up for the right thing, etc.
