I just asked my cousin, his Nissan's rubber band gave up the ghost at 148k miles and cost $3,500.00 for repair.
I looked at Subaru options and they have rubber band drive as well.
There's a brand new Mazda CX30 available and price is $23,425.00 that sounds like a bargain considering today's prices.

I don't know how they can sell these CVT units? They never make it to 200k miles.

I see the Cooper Mini's all the time for less than $500.

One woman I talked to said she had been driving one for 2 years bouncing off the preacher. Top speed was 45, but it still ran fine.

FYI. Before anyone asks what the preacher is .
    Preacher=Rev. Limiter.

I'm starting to question if asking 200k miles out of anything is asking too much.

That just about seems like the way now. Just figure a car payment will be a life's certainty, like death and taxes

A little crude but got the job done! Sometimes have to make do with what you got. I bet wherever they're at the skill of those guys is greatly appreciated.
One thing, after seeing photographs of a guy who's jacket got caught up in the chuck....no long sleeves man. It was gruesome. The lathe chuck ate into this guy's head and chest...there was just a small portion of skin from his face laying on the compound and it chewed right through his chest, spit blood, bones and guts everywhere.

Disposable plastic society. Chew it up and chuck it. Finance guy when we were getting my wife a Corolla after her cvt blew says- the way I look at it most people will just always have a car payment. Not in my house bucko. Pay em off, ride em until it hurts, and ride em some more.

We are bad about having a new vehicle, but one vehicle is paid off. I cant see trading in for an equal value truck, still would be a big payment nowadays i dont want...done a lot of work preventative maintenance, engine still runs good.

    Right!

My 14mpg Tundra is really like a 50mpg Tundra, since there has been no payment for years!

Insure that all the air is out of the tank and work up to the test pressure. Be very careful, the pressure washer will be difficult to control.

When you reach the test pressure valve everything off and proceed to beat on the seams with a rubber mallet, if nothing bad happens I allowed my tanks to sit at pressure for 15 minutes and banged on them again.

What is the pressure rating of the tank? Did you block off the pressure relief valve?
Normal testing is to hydro to 2.5x the working pressure.
If you did not block off the PRV, just gagged it, you really can't trust that valve. Might be wise just to replace it. They are cheap.

I like to keep it simple when I hydro a vessel. I just use a grease gun. Fill the tank with water, reduce one of the tank ports down to 1/4 npt. Another port will have a known good and calibrated gauge.

Attach the grease gun to the tank with a union and nipple. Pump away.

I don't even bother removing the grease cartridge,. The grease in the tank hurts nothing.

Little bit of this and that
This right here is the prime reason why my wife wants to dump her Odyssey and replace it with an older Land Cruiser or Sequoia. The savings of not having a car payment pays for alot of gas...even with today's prices and 12-15MPG.

    https://letsfab.in/hydro-static-pressure-calculation/

You want to pressurize to 1.3 times the maximum working pressure listed on the ASME data plate welded to the tank. Do not use the more is better logic, use the proper test pressure and no more.

    Working pressure of 200 psi X 1.3 = 260 psi test pressure
    Working pressure of 150 psi X 1.3 = 195 psi test pressure

As I said the pressure washer is difficult to control, a grease gun can be used or a proper test pump as below.

This is the pump I used:

Speaking of riding until it hurts, my father in law has an 05 denali gasser with 495 k on the clock that he bought brand new that he runs now just as a hunting rig. He has dumped a new rear end, 2 trannys, countless money in the last 5 years into a truck that most people would send down the road so that he can one day tell people 500k on the 6.0 block. Few things on this earth would make that man prouder than to have put 500k on one motor.
