    fortunately mine wasn't that bad!

with the climbing temps, i emptied the ice maker sunday to let it refill with fresh ice for the weeks upcoming summer temps. monday, i went down to the basement for something and see a puddle on the floor under where the fridge is. turns out the ice maker fill valve output hose seal went bad, so it dumped water every time the ice maker called for a refill. crazy part was that the floor turns out to be pitched towards the wall right near there, so when i pulled the fridge out, there was only a small little stream from the fridge to the wall, hard to even see when i was looking for it. so i was extremely lucky to have caught it so soon in the basement-- i don't normally go down there during the week.

i ordered a replacement valve($20 on ebay, $85 from kenmore), cleaned up the old one, and then relocated the old one to a large measuring cup on the exterior so i could keep using the ice machine.

the new one, despite the ebay picture showing the correct item, is a different mounting flange but the same fill valve setup, but it's already installed and running, just externally installed in a measuring cup for the time being to make sure it fixed the problem! not even gonna bother with messaging them, any day there's not water on my floor is a win!

Every time I buy something I look for a used, like new. If it's only a couple of bucks, I'll take new. Once in a while, you get a brand new item for 2/3 off, though!

Shark Bites are really handy -- and really expensive compared to traditional fittings, I have never seen a large job done by a pro using all Shark Bites.

Since they have a lock and seal the odds of them failing (at some point) are higher than traditional fittings.
More parts = higher probability for failure.

That said they seem to have a good service record and there are times when they save tremendous time, work or are safer to use - no torch needed. I view them as a useful item to use when warranted.

    Good morning everyone :hattip:

The painting ops went remarkably well over the weekend. Kinda hot with temps near 80 but dry. I don’t think I’ve ever painted in such dry weather before. It took about 2 minites to dry.

I hope y’all have a good day
