Dumbass question but would you know if elements like iron, manganese and chlorine are filtered by the element or micron?

"Push rod" failure is also very common.

 

The filters will make cloudy water clear of sediment, rust color, etc. I believe chlorine needs to be removed with a specific filter/process.

@koditten has background in this subject perhaps he can clarify the issue for us.

 

Microns are a measurement of size most often rated what size material is allowed through the filter .

It can be a very slippery slope one of the Quicky mart stores bought the wrong size filters for the gas pumps they clogged within a few hundred gallons . Allowing the fuel to just trickle out .

I use two filters one to remove the solid particles ( I would need to look for the size) another carbon filter to remove the chlorine and strange tastes . I also use a tank to allow things to settle and pull drinking water off the top.

It comes down one filter for( microns everything stopped above what size you decide)particles another for taste when i set this system up a few years ago.

Things change every day

 

I’m thinking it might have something to do with the ability to filter dissolved vs undissolved solids.

It will always come down to the size of the particles.

If it is able to completely bond to water then only filtering for taste will be of any help.

Do your own Math this is to much like work one Micron is one millionth of a meter .

Milli Meters are small enough for my liking .
