Does the old one know she has been replaced ?

That can at times go so wrong.

Turkeys are done for me. Settled for a jake. He came in to the call so nice I couldn't resist. Mowing season is here (and other outdoor work), so I guess it's good that I'm done in that way. Now, I just have to learn to sleep past 4:30.

depends on what you're listening to tunein through.

i was using my android phone and data connection. after a while it times out and tunein starts interrupting with ad's every 5-10 minutes. using it every day for 8 hours a day, i easily hit the timeout, and would listen to the same 4 tunein ad's too many times to count during the day.

in the garage, i use a laptop with ad-bloc, ublock, connected through a pi-hole ad-blocker, and then i don't get any ad's on tunein at all.

if you're really interested in a unique internet radio experience, try https://radio.garden.live it's a bunch of internet radio stations overlaid onto a google map globe. lots of interesting stations around the globe, many english-music stations in other countries that offer some really odd/unique perspectives on what other countries think counts as any specific genre in american music.

otherwise i use an app on my phone called "internet radio pro" to access internet radio stations. no ad's from the app, just whatever is imposed by the station selected.

Down through the years man has pondered many things, especially during the long hours when sleep is elusive:

    What causes tides?
How do birds know where to migrate?
If a man speaks in an empty room would a woman still say he was wrong? ;)

In my case -- Why do I do this stuff....?

The 1/2 clunker of the week:

    KIMG3085.jpg

    Jacobsen 53500, built between 1978 - 80.
Quite a rare machine, not necessarily to be confused with valuable.
She is a big girl, shipping weight without attachments was 1125 pounds.
    :benchpress:

Missing a few parts -- the Kohler 19.9 HP engine for example. The tires hold air for several minutes...
Someone went to the good time & trouble to remove every wire from the tractor too, fortunately there aren't many to begin with.

    KIMG3089.jpg

Has a hydrostatic 2 range transaxle, hydraulic center & rear lift and a front remote circuit to operate things like a blade angle.

    KIMG3088.jpg

    Best yet -- power steering!

This is the valve that detects motion and sends oil to a cylinder on the other side to provide the assist.

    KIMG3087.jpg

She is stunningly large in person, compare the tire from the hefty old Ford LGT 145 I plow snow with. This big old girl hasn't seen any lubrication in a long time, some moly chain lube and a little persuasion has the linkages moving better, it even has a mechanical cruise control. (Yazoo from a few weeks ago in the background.)

    KIMG3090.jpg

It was a nice day for a rip down to central Pa, got stuck behind an oversized load on the way down 20 miles in second and third gear.

Then stuck behind a loaded dump truck on the way back over a mountain with an 18% grade, that was first and second gear. :turtleride:

Forgot this, I believe it is the base for a category 0 three point hitch.

Note the mechanical drum brakes activated by rods and a complex linkage with a bunch of mechanical interlocks up front. Stepping on the brake moves the travel pedal to neutral and disengages the cruise control.

Smaller tractors have a band brake that works on a drum on the transaxle.

    KIMG3083.jpg

    Lots - O - Linkage up here.
Hydro valves (2), cruise control, service brakes, parking brake, range selection, the afore mentioned interlocks, deck lift and the steering too.

You can see the assist cylinder attached to the spindle on the left side of the photo, older cars & trucks used a similar system, Ford stuck with it the longest, always a leaky mess with the valve, assist cylinder and a half dozen hoses. It was about 1979 before the trucks had integrated steering boxes.

    KIMG3086.jpg

Poor photo, there was no place to get off the road for a better one.
Lopez is the town, I don't know the reason for the model plane & bombs but thought it was neat. I didn't notice the Loch Ness monster when I took the photo.

    i got curious:
    http://lopezpa.com/

i'm not exactly sure why they're using a drone to commemorate ww2 service, as drones didn't exist then...

oh and if i was retired i'd be doing exactly what you're doing with those tractors! i just love working/tinkering on stuff.

that snow thrower i posted a while back is exactly that. i'll fix it up for a few bucks in parts, get it running well, then find someone to give it to that can appreciate it but doesn't always have the time to fix it themselves.

Thanks for the research  -- the drone is probably more the spirit of the thing than historically accurate, I thought it was a model of a plane. :notsure:

I have had these Ford/Jac tractors for over 25 years, this is the first one of these "super" tractors I have ever seen in person.

It was cheap and only a few hours drive away - most importantly the steering and suspension was complete, engines & wires are easy.

A small diesel re-power would be a neat swap.

    However...
Seeing as I have around a dozen Wisconsin 2 cylinders, that will be fun too.
With a snow blade and the rear 3 point hitch it might be useful too. :)
