Yesterday, I bought an ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight to run a bunch of loose Hot Wheels through after someone donated a whole sack of them they found somewhere.

About 20 years ago I found this tiny bottle out in my yard and it was packed full of dirt and no amount of soaking or rising would get it all out. So, I figured why not try the bottle in there and it worked but it still took about (6) 3 minute cycles to get all the crap out.

    20230606_160351.jpg

I've always wondered what it was from and then I then discovered there was a patent number on the bottle and a search told me it was this...

    Screenshot_20230606_160656_Chrome.jpg

Never thought it would be a nail polish bottle but it still cool to know and for being 75 ish years old that's cool too.

Some Chevy Corvairs also have this setup (2 primary and 2 secondary carbs) essentially to dump fuel when the vacuum draws at throttle. Of course the intake valves are also oversized to take advantage as well. I still have my carb vacuum gauge to adjust/balance these, since two separate intake banks on those 6 cyl.

    That is cool!

One of the good things about our modern "information age" is you can track down all sorts of unusual things that would be impossible 30 years ago.

Keeping with my ongoing relationship with tires -- as I was mowing the postman, post person, mail girl, mail lady  --- :annoyed: the rural letter carrier stopped and asked if I could plug a tire. This is the part timer who only has the route 1-2 days a week.

Apparently she caught a sharp stone right in the center of the tread, the tires really are too worn for use out here too. I put 3 plugs in the hole and told her my warranty was only good to the end of the driveway and she needed a new tire.

Fortunately she was close to the end of the route, hopefully she made it without further trouble.
    :fingerscrossed:

    There, fixed it.

I was actually going to ask you if you had any ideas until I got it clean enough to see the patent number.

Are there any markings on it?

@wilcam47 or @Fargo Taco are pretty good at googlefu

Ok... this is what I found.. the others may come up with something more 1910 to 1930s Apothecary Bottle

Other than the excitement that comes along with drum brakes on all four corners, the thing I miss most about cars from the past is the jolt and sound of a 4 bbl carb’s secondaries kicking in.

Good stuff, thanks for keeping the craft alive

Those Rotten Chester Carbs with those huge secondaries .

Then you needed just the Air filter element for the cool factor .

As long is the temperature is not close to 32 degrees with snow in the air.

The element froze completely the engine rpm just got slower and slower to it quit ..

    That was an embarrassing adventure.

Y'all get on up and get with it. Sounds like you had a good one there Jeff. I'm up nice and squirrely on site ready to support a satellite fueling op. Hope things go smooth. Im ready to knock this out and kick it on back into low gear to finish the week.
