NH’s moniker is the Granite State. Motto ‘Live Free or Die’ (unless the govt passes a law otherwise ).

Granite and trees were big back in the day. Today, it’s more like tech and services down state. Up here it’s a mixed bag of medium to small businesses and government jobs (state, schools, town and county).

I don't know what you mean by tapered head but the bottoms are already made so the rivets on most of them sit flush.

I need the lip of the button head to hold the base in place since the rivet head is no longer there.

    20230708_152422.jpg

It's a tried and true method and I see no reason to change it

Hoping to convince the skunks under the deck to go sleep elsewhere. 30% vinegar, some Dawn dishwashing soap, peppermint essential oil, and some leftover Lysol laundry sanitizer. Smells worse than the skunks.

Good Luck I just sort of have given up after being sprayed so often .

Now the smell is just different not really that bad.

I am about due in the next few weeks.

    Bowl Update:
In the last 24 hours, I have sanded for eight hours. 52 sheets of sandpaper, I now have 12 bowls ready for some hand rubbed dark stain. It feels good to have gotten to this point!
So, here is how it went:
    Kutzall Fast Cut Disc
Belt Sander at 80 Grit for tiny shaping
DA 36 grit for removing deep scratches
DA 80 grit for removing the 36
DA 120 for removing the 80
    DA 180 for final smoothness.

Tomorrow I will stain them all. Let dry for a few days and then some semi gloss polyurethane. Thanks for following along!

The grain looks fantastic and I'm sure the stain will bring it out even more. Great job!

Nice work! :101010: I have enjoyed this project.

Looking forward to seeing the final finish -- this is where I have messed up in the past.

There is a ridge beam clad with $65 worth of stain grade lumber (2001 prices) in my living room, it is painted white because I made such a disaster with the stain/polyurethane... :annoyed:
