    Everyone can do something well...

A fellow who worked for me was a rolling hazard, he had a knack for doing the worst possible thing - at the worst possible time.

He did an excellent job at being an example of what not to do.

In all truthfulness, I have a golden rule for all of my coworkers: do not lie to me.

The reason for this is that my job is to fix things. It’s so much easier when I know what happened. It’s not my job to reprimand. If you lie to me, I’ll waste alot of valuable time working on an incorrect hypothesis or eliminating unlikely causes. If it was due to a lie? I will advocate for your dismissal. We all work better when being on the same team.

    Works for me!

Knowing the real story can really change things.

This comes to mind one shop dropped a steel plate on edge on the work cable cutting it in half.

What did they say the machine does not work .( out for repair) $120.00 later the machine is fine. Install the welder still does not work . One expensive $$$ service call It took longer to walk from the truck to the welding station.

Around $500.00 to replace 25' of 2/0 welding cable .If i ever was at that shop again the maintenance supervisor was always out of the building or hiding.

Yea, could have either replaced the cable, butt connector, or 2 new shorter cables…
Either a slap on the wrist or a verbal reprimand (or loss of scrap proceeds for party. Ours was always a big crawfish boil!)

The worse part was none of the shop employees did not see the problem.

I guess it fell under the Not My problem clause which sees much more use as of late.

Things happen I have no idea if any one ever admitted just how it happened.

Well, just goes to show how simple diagnostics elude kids today.

I actually regularly teach my fellow workers how to do rudimentary diagnostics before bringing it to me. I’ll then show them how the diagnostics point towards the potential issues if they didn’t already solve it.
