So far as a whooping goes, I don't think it did much harm. It did instill a respect for my parents and what they said. Problem is when stepfather bailed and there was no one there to keep me in line. I respected my mother for awhile but then that kind of went away, and I traveled poor choices path for a spell.
I read a little bit about child punishment when our kids were very young. My wife totally against spanking, me not so much. I think what little I read that made the most sense is that with a spanking there becomes a diminishing point of return
I mean eventually someone gonna end up in the hospital.....or the clink:bananadead:

    I get that.
The moderns have been so "perfected" if you will, and also so homogenized brand to brand they have lost all personality.

In "the old days" Chev, Ford, Chrysler all had their own ways of doing things, small things like where the controls were located or the feel of the steering gave them a brand personality. All gone today for the most part.

One of the most oddly enjoyable vehicles I had was a small Grumman Kurbmaster one ton delivery van, it wasn't fast or even attractive but every time I drove it it made me laugh.

Quite a feeling going down the highway with the doors open and sitting 5 feet off the ground.

Kind of like wearing a sign, it helps people instantly know that "yes, he really is stupid".

The whole (alleged) point of "needing" a truck is to do truck stuff -- which is kind of the opposite of setting your sisters new couch on fire while you are bringing it home from the goodwill store for her... :smack:

That old Grumman Kurbmaster reminds me of a old RV that one of my wife's friends had. They called it Martha Gooch. I ask why and they said because it resembles a bread truck.

Mine (1970) was a uniform delivery truck in Calif, the second owner bought it in 1977 with a bad engine (Ford 300). After replacing the engine he and his wife traveled all around the US & Mexico towing a Silver Streak travel trailer and carrying a BMW motorbike in the van.
Eventually they settled in NY and he used it for flea market vending after retiring.

He had it 35 years, I stopped at a yard sale and saw it sitting beside his garage.

I had one in the past, we called it the 'Hitcheroo' Works brilliantly. Added hooks to hold a plastic bag for the heavier deposits when we needed to take out what we took in.

I knew a guy in high-school that put a vertical exhaust through the deck lid of his truck on a Dodge Neon. o_O

    Same.

I just don't consider it unpaid, just underpaid.

40 minutes early drinking company bought coffee. Those 2 cups were worth it as far as I'm concerned.

I loved it watching the bossholes explain what needed to be done after they had been on site for only 6 minutes.

That it is, but that picture doesn't really do the flatness justice. Here's a full 360 degree picture I took a few years ago on a bike ride:

I've gone on 30 mile rides and had 100 feet of elevation gain. That's just from a few overpasses over the interstate.
