Cooper. Ft. Calhoun is shut down, but they still have a large crew with that entire process of shutting down / decommissioning. Thank you, it is a cool job. Not without its headaches just because of everything being procedurally driven and such, but it's for safety reasons of course. I'm coming up on 17 years there. The first five years I was titled Machinist but now carry most all certs for mechanic as well. Sometimes I worry about the future of Nuclear Power because of the expense. Many of the smaller stations are closing. We're a little larger unit than Ft. Calhoun. But just a single unit. The multi unit stations have a huge advantage and are much higher output megawatts each.

That was rather easy to figure out just from your posts !

Maybe more so from being involved in so many Outages .

Funny how people like you are never thought of as essential workers by most people .

    Keep up the good work

Millwright? I worked out of Local 1974 (?) For a few years after the factory I worked closed the doors. And thank you for compliment, I do believe we are considered essential but yeah not many give it much thought. That there electricity comes out of that socket:)

    Good morning everyone!

We made it to the mountain house we rented yesterday. Got my first live tree in my life and it’s a gorgeous view

I'm hoping that the stigma surrounding nuclear power goes away in the next few years. It would help you keep up your plants better and pave the way for new ones.

I did see a couple of weeks ago that a lab in Britain made the first fission reactor. That is promising.
    Congrats, man! Enjoy your holiday!
