That roofer has lost his mind. He looked at it, got up on the roof and caulked around the lightning rod, said it's possible it could be leaking there and told me he heard you could spray bleach water on it, looking at me like I was going to do it.

I said let me tell you something, I'm not touching it, I want it gone. Do we need to contact YOUR insurance company or what? He said let me call a guy and see what he says, I'll let you know something by lunch.

:annoyed: So what did he do, just hammer the lightning rod into the roof in the first place... :frusty:

Sorry you have to go through this - especially right now...

I don't think he ever got on the roof, his guys did it. I told him we have it under contract and it needs to be taken care of ASAP. If he don't jump I guess I'll contact my insurance company and let them go after him, since it was done under an insurance claim in the 1st place.

You more or less removed a non used Chimney that had extended through the roof .

Now in what ever manor they framed out that hole seems to be leaking .:anonymous::annoyed:

    Seems someone fumbled that area.

I hope it all works out!:fingerscrossed:

Jury duty is getting interesting too, I filled out online that I wanted a deferral, only dates were 2021, I chose one. I then got in touch with them by phone, the lady was nice and ask what date I wanted? I said March 8th, she said okay I will mail you a new summons.

I just got an email saying my request went through and it's April 12th

I haven’t been able to catch up- just saw earlier he dismantled a chimney below the roof sheathing and roofed over it.

In doing so, did he cover the hole with plywood first or did he just put roofing materials over the hole?

Easy enough to plug it with some plywood and throw some ice/water shield before the shingles ..

They patched it with boards where they knocked the chimney down then covered it with synthetic something then the shingles. It looks great, I don't think it's a big leak, we've just had a lot of rain the last several months and I've had no reason to go in the attic until the other day and saw it.

Side note, our Christmas tree and decorations are still up in the house. We figure if we're moving, why put them back in the attic :santa:

It is so sad very few of the younger people seem to take any pride in a job well done.

I have seen Roofers that were skilled craftsman doing state roofs any more your lucky if they show up.

Bad habits over the years we picked up.

Change can be so hard for some.

When Mig welding trickled down to smaller fab shops most all the older hands were scared to try.

Having learned in school I was the first to pass any of the code tests Hard to believe that was the late seventies.
